Jon, man, your music has helped me express myself through some dark times ever since i was 16. Now I'm 25 (26 in a few days) and i'm relatively happy these days, your music nowadays has this ability to help me recognize how far I've come inner-personally by putting me back in those emotions I felt all those years ago. It's beautiful. Unfortunately, dont listen to your music like I used to as i dont often feel the need to relate, but i'll be damned if i dont listen to every new release and appreciate this music; from an internet artist i found all those years ago as a sophomore in high school to doing full blown tours! I grew up on this and i just wanted to say thank you. I don't know how i would have made it this far without YOUR art. Thank you.

This is my interpretation of the video. I've seen a few comments saying how the song itself is about accepting the past, moving on, and trying to figure out the next step (0:10). I think there is a special application here to letting go of people, especially when he says, "slowly my friends turned to places, i can't be everywhere at once." When it comes to the video itself, we see all three people moving/existing aimlessly, (man staring at the ocean, woman falling out of the passenger seat of a driver-less, slow-moving car, and the older woman staring at a screen) which might be demonstrating that element of, "I don't know what to do next." I think it was intentional that this was filmed in Beirut, where an ammonium nitrate explosion killed hundred and displaced many as refugees (the Beirut Explosion). At 2:57, it shows a series of black and white images, where I think a few are referencing the catastrophe that happened in Beirut, alongside the characters in the video. There is this separation of loved ones in the video, and a tenderness when they are together, but an emptiness when they are alone except for the older woman who decides to close the screen and learns to be happy on her own. The last scene with the younger and older woman (who I assume are mother and daughter) shows what seems like a reunion between the two, or a cherished dream/memory the younger woman holds on to, such as tea with her mother. Whenever the characters are together, the background changes may be indicating that the scene is occurring in their dreams, such as the mother and daughter, where the daughter falls asleep and wakes up in her mothers place. Certain things displace people, or lead people to live in different spaces than you, the song and video seems to project peace with this and a bittersweet nostalgia when we look back on these memories. However I could easily be completely wrong, this was just my first thoughts from someone who has rewatched this video too many times lol :)

there is something that I want to add. the old woman not making tea, it is coffee and it seems like Turkish coffee or coffee arabica which both are pretty bitter. so maybe this is one of the ways to live their sorrow.

I think 2:57 is imagery of a rocket taking off, which then you see moving through the clouds at 3:36. There's also what looks like a rocket/shuttle breaking up on reentry at 2:52, which seems to be happening in the dreamstate. The Beirut explosion analogy is probably correct, or EDEN wanted to acknowledge it, but perhaps the rocket imagery in the dream indicates what that these people are afraid of failure in their lives, not pushing far enough to reach a new place and "breaking up/falling apart" along their journey. The black and white imagery flashes at the climax of the track, almost as if it's jolting them back awake, as the rocket is actually taking off. Then the mom and daughter view the successful launch, in reality. So perhaps, by reuniting with someone she loves and trusts, she realizes she can get through life like the rocket moves through the atmosphere, moving to greater purpose in space. EDEN and the woman next to him look like racecar drivers, but they also could be astronauts? IDK really.

The old lady is the girl with green shirt. The man with the mustache is her old lover, the lover she had when she was young, quite possibly her first love. The relationship ended up breaking apart for reasons unknown, although the memories and quite possibly the feelings are still there. There is a scene where both the young girl and man stare off out their balcony into the city. The city represents the future. The old lady has moved on into the city (occupying herself with her laptop and other things, like work or something) while the man sits in a plastic chair staring into the ocean which stretches for what seems like infinity. The young girl sleeping in the car with both doors open and no one driving indicates she is either dreaming of the past, or reminiscing on the past. She wakes up from this dream when she falls out of the car and wakes up on the floor, which shows a plastic chair turned over. The old lady, although thinking she moved on, still invites her younger self into her life to reminisce on old times, but the bad part of this is shown when it depicts the man on the ground with many chairs around him. the memories of him reoccur over and over when the old lady invites her younger self into her life, which I’m sure makes the old lady miss this time in her life. This is my personal interpretation of the music video. Love you Eden
@enesai_
@enesai_ 2 жыл бұрын
Actually, I’m quite positive it makes the old lady miss this time in her life, because there is a scene of her dancing with her hands, much like the young couple does together!
@enesai_
@enesai_ 2 жыл бұрын
Also, I believe the old lady inviting her young self, who dreams of her old lover, could also represent getting really deep and lost in thoughts of the past. It’s like the old lady is reminiscing on her past self, and her past self is reminiscing on her past relationship…?

What I love most about these songs is just how replayable and timeless they are. Typically I'm skeptical on the first listen, but then I think about it and listen to it some more, and I pick up something new each time and the next thing I know I'm addicted. And no matter how long it's been, I always find myself coming back to listen to an EDEN song.

EDEN's songs always carry a special feeling. Something that resonates deep within. Idk why but his songs give me goosebumps. Always. Just soemthing about the voice, the tunes, the vibe that plucks a string in my soul, deep, hidden from unforgiving world, finds solace in Eden's songs. I'm grateful to be alive.

edit: fuck covid. he tested positive and i was leaving for a trip. we couldnt make it when he performed this in london in december, he introduced it as a song for the places you cant visit anymore or the people you dont talk to anymore. immediately my mind went to an old internet friend owen, who was the one who introduced me to his music five years ago. been waiting for this release since. me and owen drifted a little after a couple years, only talking every few months or so. i started talking to him a bit more regularly in the past few weeks, just in time for this song to finally come out. i love it so much. me and owen are both 18 now, and planning to meet up soon. will definately be playing this in my headphones when we make the journey

Even after listening to the live version a hundred, I’m just now understanding that ballin isn’t just feeling great and living life, but also he’s balling his eyes out at the loss of time and the relationships he couldn’t keep. I learn something new every time I hear his music 🔥❤️

how did you come to decide the sonic palette of the upcoming album? from the two singles we've heard it already sounds incredibly varied and interesting, curious to know what things inspired you to take such an experimental and fresh turn for this project. absolutely loving the stuff so far and what i heard in brooklyn in january, excited for more :)

i felt like my music was always experimental? it varies in intensity but it has always felt like an exploration to me. so i dont really decide on sonics. its not premeditated. i love what i love and i follow the feeling

Love the little mysteries in the videos. Once again we get some lights in the sky 2:50 from all the flickering images after I can feel maybe something de-orbiting like a shuttle and it went wrong of course this could be something completely else as they have shown up in other videos 🤔 As always amazing lyrics keep up the amazing work Eden

The funny thing is when I first listened to your music which was Start/End, Wake Up and Icarus. You struck a cord with my heart (no pun intended) and it made me love your music. Now your music is nostalgic to the time I listened to your first song.

So I analyzed the hell out of the video, and this is what I believe it means. So there is the Woman, the Man and the Grandma. The Woman and the Man while in scenes alone only ever have their eyes closed, I think this is symbolic for the idea that when they are alone they are "dreaming" or reminiscing about the past that they shared together which can be seen in the scene where they are together, eyes opened in the soft orange light. Even the Grandma has her eyes closed when she is dancing on the balcony doing what I'll call the "Hand Dance", the Hand Dance appears multiple times in the video and I think the Hand Dance symbolizes something like love or connection. The Woman is found doing the Hand Dance a lot while eyes closed remembering the connection she had with the Man, and in the scene they are together they are doing the Hand Dance with each other, I think symbolizing bonding intimately, note they are also looking into the city here. The Grandma is found doing the Hand Dance because she is thinking about the Woman, I assume to be her granddaughter/daughter, she is thinking about the Woman I assume because she will be visiting the Grandma later in the day as we see at the end of the video. There's a scene where the girl falls out of the car seat and we get a kaleidoscope of images which to me feels like rapid movement through memories as she comes back to her senses, she stops being so caught up in her memories and is there in the moment with the Grandma. Here she is on the floor and behind her a white patio chair similar to the green patio chair the man falls out of in an earlier scene. The Woman's and Grandma's eyes are open and they stare into the city similar to the way the Woman and the Man stared into the city together. I think the patio chairs symbolize "places" to sit, in other words the chairs are like an analog to relationships more generally, if the leg is broken you can hardly sit in it anymore. The scene with the many chairs broken on the floor I think really drive the point home, they show in essence all the "dead" relationships, the memories of people in the past, the moved ons, all of the "friends turn to places". I think this video and the song frankly is really about how relationships are not forever and it can be really hard to come to terms with that and end up being stuck thinking about the "good times" and the "what ifs" but as it shows in the end it's important to be in the moment and value and cherish the people that are still in your life, that there is still beauty to be had. When this all finally clicked in my head and crystalized I couldn't help but cry uncontrollably, of course this is all speculation but the meaning really hit hard for me, I really appreciate you Eden for making this art, much love

Personally I wasn’t a big fan of how auto tuned and synthetic a lot of it sounded. I understand it was intentional, but I love the more natural vocals from Jon. I find that the more natural and pure the frequencies are, the more they connect and can penetrate the mind/body/soul on a deeper spiritual level. Our world was created and shaped by frequencies, and vibrations, so they have a profound impact on our whole being, positive and negative. The guitar was great, and I can’t deny that after a few listens the song has grown on me each time; but I do still stand by what I said, and hope the honest criticism is appreciated. Keep up the great work as always EDEN, your music will always occupy a special place in my heart.

I love writing out deep shit in your comments, I will not rest until the day I get to tell you this in person, or until the day I'll finally be able to see a concert of yours. I genuinely would be an entirely different person if I hadn't found your music some random day in april 2017. I was 14 about to head on a boat for two days with my family, and I remember the feeling I had when I first listened to one of your songs so well, I truly felt like I had found a missing piece of myself and I'm so happy I've gotten to see you release new songs as I've grown up, turning 20 this year. I was diagnosed with ADHD this year, and I struggle with sticking to things and with my memory, but one thing in my life that has always been constant has been your music, through the darkest times your music wasn't left behind as a memory like so many other songs, but they instead felt like a reminder that I can okay again. I remember where I was when your released 909, I remember when I stick and poked your logo onto my arm which I should regret not doing professionally but I don't, I remember all the bus rides I've taken to distract myself from everything else with your music in the background, I remember who I am when I put on the playlist I made that day back in 2017, and I couldn't be more grateful to you. so thank you thank you thank you, I don't know where this life will take me, but I know I'll always have your music.
