Oh no I bought my first climber last year and ended up having to cut it to the ground too - zone 5. I thought it was gone but it’s coming right back this spring and growing like a weed.

Fingers crossed. Even though mine died down to the ground, they bounced back strong and put on tremendous growth this year. Can't wait to see how they perform next year. This fall I'm trying the high mulch instead of the burlap and straw. Good luck with your roses, I hope they do well for you!🙏🌹

I had two rose bushes that looked like that and I thought they were dead. A tiny base of the plants abou the soil was still green. I should’ve cut them back and tried to preserve them instead of discarding them 😢

I've done the same thing before. When they die down to the base, they do look completely dead, so I get why you pulled yours up.
