I think it was psychological. Even the biggest superstars, the Ronaldos, Figos, Beckhams and the Ronaldo Nazarios arrive at Madrid as nobodies and have to prove themselves again. What they achieved at other lesser clubs amounts to very little at Real. Whereas Eden didn't embrace that fact and wanted his exploits at Chelsea to give him senior status at Real, which was never going to happen.

But this is very revealing about how players while theyre playing and are in that bubble have little or no idea what was going on outside. Eden is saying he wasn't super famous when the incident happened and that its not like now and that is so wrong. Hazard was a beast destroying the leagues best team and players at that point he was always in a premier league storyline... nobody could touch him and thats what made the incident so big. If anything his popularity went down since he left the league. And Charlie clearly remembers what he wants claiming he was given a late call when it was revealed that days before the match he had tweeted about time wasting for the upcoming match😂
