Covering chapter 4 from the Pure 1/AS Textbook of Edexcel's A Level Maths takes a look at a selection of graphs you will encounter in A Level Maths such as straight line graphs, Quadratics, Cubics, Quartics and Reciprocal graphs, this chapter also furthers transformations from GCSE Maths.
I have covered more Edexcel A Level Maths and A Level Further Maths on my channel so be sure to subscribe! :)

I thought it was meant to be a positive if it has moved to the right and negative to the left or does it change for this topic?

It's an inequality so it is a range of values! We're basically saying that any value strictly less than -7/16 satisfies our condition for part (c). If I had said just one particular value less than -7/16 then I would have agreed with you!

What does it mean when Ex 4E Q8 says the asymptotes are 'at' x=4 and y=0?
@AJMaths
@AJMaths 2 жыл бұрын
So if you start with y = 1/x then the asymptotes are simply x = 0 and y = 0 (The graph will keep getting closer and closer to these lines but never actually touch them) After the transformation the new asymptotes are at x = 4 and y = 0 If you're a little unsure about the definition of an asymptote just simply sketch y = 1/x and then sketch x = 4 and y = 0 and I think it will illuminate the idea! Let me know if that doesn't help much! :)

Hi, this is prime notation (The same as we use for differentiation) it has a different meaning here though, we use it to show a new point after a given transformation!
