Director Edgar Wright visits the BFI Southbank to present his new documentary, The Sparks Brothers, about the five decade musical odyssey of brothers Ron and Russell Mael AKA Sparks.
With The Sparks Brothers Wright refrains from the usual tropes of the biopic and instead takes us through a fascinating journey chronicling the irreverent world of Ron and Russell. Sparks’ music has consistently changed direction to electrifying effect. With producers such as Tony Visconti and Giorgio Moroder behind some of their biggest successes (‘The Number One Song in Heaven’, ‘Get in the Swing’) the duo’s influence has been felt across several generations of artists.
Edgar was talking to journalist and broadcaster Edith Bowman.
