The person that said this movie deserves all the stars but only gave it 3 1/2 stars is.......interesting.

Edgar Wright is the first person I've seen do this who didn't see 3-3½ star reviews and comment on how they're low. King who understands that 3½ stars is a good score especially when you read the review and its positive

I am so glad this man is creating movies. Everything he makes is just so fun. It's brilliant film making but not in a pretentious way. You enjoy every second of your first viewing and then on your 2nd or 3rd viewing you realise what made you enjoy it

I strongly relate to a Letterboxd review I once read for Hot Fuzz (I went looking for it again but can't find it, so apologies for not crediting it), which went something like "Edgar Wright, if you're reading this, would you please be my friend?".

This guy makes honest films. Others make better films or flasher films. But never have i watched his movies and felt like the guy behind them didn't fucking love his shit to death. It really shows. Didn't like Shaun for a total of ten minutes (not into zombies) but it's humor without being postmodern won me over and then some. I now love it.

I used to know a lad who was Edgar Wright's voice twin. He joined our halls of residence mid-way through our first year at University in Preston. Absolute f*cking psychopath. He had massive PTSD from fighting in some corner of the Middle East and veered from intense manic happiness to flat-out violence so unpredictability that the whole floor avoided him for six months. He would regularly shout obscenities in the corridor and smash shit up. Once, a mate scraped "child killer" into his door and it nearly caused WW3. Anyway, I'm ashamed to say that, because of Edgar Wright's voice being so similar, I developed an unreasonable dislike for him (in spite of his excellence and skill as a director).

@@AbrasiousProductions That's sweet, thanks - I think it started with the narrative that the British have stolen culture from around the world during the British empire, - stolen artifacts, stolen wealth even stolen culture etc etc, which is such a broad and incorrect characterisation of what the UK has brought to the world.

as someone who puts effort into my reviews and makes them sentences long every time, it's a massive peeve to see people type nothing but a glorified comment and call it a review, those ones are the most popular too, meanwhile the reviews I put effort into are barely recognized.. saying something like "that's relatable, I like his shirt" is not a review, that is a statement, a review is specifying why you like or dislike a film, breaking it down, analyzing it. sickens me to see people think they're films critics when they aren't even novices.
