Thanks Edgar. You have enlightened me on some important details. Keep making the videos you don’t prefer to make. :)

Immediate like for the video ! Brilliant as always ! Question from a wannabe violin maker..so forgive me if i sound dumb..once you bend the ribs and outline the front and back, do you then work on the arching of both plates and then adjust the height of the ribs? Or u adjust the height of the plates to suit the ribs? Also, would the arching be more or less the same height at the middle for both plates or it depends on tuning of the plates?

Actually a good question. For may years I didn't even know this and I just made my instruments. But since I know I pay a little more attention to this detail but I try to be within a range of 1mm. If wood gives me every possibility I would prefer to make the top higher than the back; but sometimes the back is higher. I think it doesn't make too much difference for the force cancellation of the entire violin Corpus of the instrument. I think if you know this detail you will act already different than if you wouldn't know. And that makes the difference! Yes or Yes? all the best Edgar

Could a viola sound more like a violoncello da spalla if the rib height were larger or are there more differences than just the height of the instruments?
