Even though I’m not in the market for a $60K machine - I always love the behind the scenes videos of your shop and processes.

Wow! You guys really have taken it up a notch. I run the CNC and we push it forward to the edge bander machines. We're very careful on deducting the pre-mill and adding the banding thickness from the finished size of the part. We're dealing with thousandths of an inch here.

When I really started ramping up production was when I got the vertical panel saw and edgebander. Especially since I was a commercial caswork shop that dealt primarily with laminates and melamine. So, Jeff, I definitely think $60,000 is worth it for an edgebander.

Great information. One question: how to do you get the edge banding to match a specific color? Do you apply a paintable PVC edge banding and then paint the banding once the box is assembled?
@TodaysCraftsmenАй бұрын
You can certainly do that. Typically what I do is find the closest match I can in PVC and go with that. You can usually get VERY close and and it looks great.

@@TodaysCraftsmen Thanks! I make face frame cabinets and have a few requests for frameless and wondered about the edge banding color match.

@@TodaysCraftsmen I found that Charter Industries has color matched PVC edge banding to Sherwin Williams paints. Example SW7069 Iron Ore.

I'm still trying to figure out which bander to buy, in all my years of doing this it's been the hardest machine to figure out what is best for my shop

It’s a tough call. Give Cehisa a look. The value is tremendous.

where do you get the anti-stick spray on the front of the machine? Also, do you spray it on before you stain/finish the wood or after...the reason I asked is to find out if it would be a good option to deal with squeeze-out so glue would not stick during the assembly of joints.
@TodaysCraftsmen7 ай бұрын
We buy it direct from Adwood. Not sure if it would work for that application.

Interesting edge banding machine Jeff. However, you will have to make a ton of doors in order to justify the price of that machine in order to make your money back.
@TodaysCraftsmen7 ай бұрын
Thanks, Steve. But not just doors, every piece of a cabinet gets banded!

compact? lol. seriously though...how do you guys learn to use a machine like this? the instruction manual must be insane...and i'm not sure a KZbin tutorial would suffice in this case
