Awesome commercial. I love it too, but I always thought a pedophile's delight.

EDGE was the first daytime TV soap opera to switch networks. It originally ran on CBS then moved to ABC.

"We'll continue with our story in just a moment...." I remember Hal Simms saying that for EON, Dan McCullough for ATWT and Bill Wolff for AW. Also, "borrowing a cup of sugar" reminds me of how nosy Gladys Kravitz was in "Bewitched"....love to have seen her went up against Mike Karr or Bill Marceau!

by the time i started watching (1969), Harry Kramer, then Hal Sims said ''our story continues after this message''..on ABC HS said ''our story will continue in a moment''; and instead of giving his name, he said ''we invite you...''..with EoN, i think these announcements went away towards the end of 1977..not really sure.....

I wonder if Jack Costello on Young Doctor Malone did the "We'll continue with our story in just a moment...." line just like Hal Simms saying that for EON, Dan McCullough for ATWT and Bill Wolff for AW. I don't remember Mel Brandt doing that on The Doctors, or Bern Bennett on Y&R. Given that YDM was an P&G show, i wonder if that was done.

@@tomservo56954 I vaguely remember Ms. Fickett on "Calendar". I remember Mary taking her shoes off and hosting part of the show in her stocking feet. (Perhaps her shoes were pinching her.)

The great Paul Taubman served as the live organist for The Edge of Night - making so much of it up as he went along. Others like him - Charles Paul, Eddie Layton, Bill Meeder, Clarke Morgan, Chet Kingsbury….among others played for the soaps on CBS and NBC. SUPER talented at improvisation!!

@@sandrasanders706 In 1960 Larry Hagman (who will all knew and loved as JR on 'Dallas') joined the cast at Lt.Ed Gibson. Bill Marceau and Ed Gibson were investigating a numbers racket that had infiltrated Monticello. At the same time, Sarah asked Judy (Bill Marceau's daughter) if she could help her out on a voluntary basis with the Sheriff Youth Ranch now that she had her hands full with the baby. Judy had fallen head over heals for Ed Gibson so Sarah told her that 'the best way to a man's heart is through his stomach' and since she is a pretty good cook why don't you invite Lt. Gibson over for dinner one night - Judy did just that and while she was feeding Ed and Bill she announced she was helping Mrs. Karr with the Sheriff's Youth Ranch. Bill Marceau started talking about the Youth Ranch - he always thought they should reach out to the wealthier residents of Monticello and ask them to roll up their rich sleeves. Judy read about a man in the society page named Victor Carlsen who came from a wealthy socially-prominent family. Judy went to see Victor Carlsen who not only wrote out a big fat check to the Youth Ranch but he asked Judy out for dinner. After Judy left, Victor's brother Jennings said "Are you crazy? Why would you want to date the daughter of the Chief of Police?" Victor replied, "What better way to stay one step ahead of the law?" Victor and Jennings Carlsen were running the numbers racket! Victor was looking for a new front to hide his illegal activities behind so he began an affair with this icy blonde named Teresa Vetter whose husband, George Vetter (played by Vincent Gardenia) owned Vetter Insurance Agency. Victor told Teresa if she would help him talk her husband into providing office space at Vetter Insurance for he and his brother he would make her the wealthiest woman in Monticello. Next thing you know these men in suits and briefcases are running in and out bringing money to the Carlsens from bets they were taking on the street. Jennings was shot and killed. By this time Bill Marceau and Ed Gibson had pieced together enough evidence linking the Carlsens to the numbers racket so Victor decided it was time to leave Monticello - but he was taking Judy with him as his 'ace in the hole'. Victor proposes to Judy and hired a man to pretend he was a justice of the peace. Teresa found out that Victor had moved the fortune they had made from the numbers racket from Vetter Insurance to a locker at the airport. Victor and Judy were planning to fly to South America so Teresa disguised herself as a maid to gain entry to the bridal suite. While Judy was in the bedroom writing a long letter to her father to explain her disappearance Teresa stabbed Victor and framed Judy for the murder. It was during Judy's murder trial that Mike lost his wife Sarah but he continued to defend Judy after Teresa confessed to the murder while she, Mike and Ed were trapped in an abandoned mine.
