True, I’m from the UK, and I’d watch what I could. I used to watch WWF Superstars, and Prime Time & a WCW show on a Saturday, hoping against hope to see Sting (I can’t remember what it was actually called), and then as an older kid on Friday nights I would constantly switch between Nitro & Raw.

I fully agree with Edge as a fan from the mid -80s on. I was genuinely excited for AEW when it came out. Here's something new, something DIFFERENT. In less than 5 years, it's become almost unbearable to watch. Storylines that stagnate and go nowhere, people that don't need to be in the main event holding prominent places on the card (ahem, Bucks), burials of main eventers (re: Swerve), matches spending far too much time outside. There are a multitude of reasons why I don't watch AEW. If a program, any program can make me go from "Ooh! What's this?" to "Why am I still giving this my time?" it's all but a lost cause for me. WWE for me, was like this for years and I only watched sporadically. The tribalism is ridiculous. Outside of the extreme diehards from both AEW & WWE most fans don't care. Though in my experience, the AEW diehards are the worst. Just see how they pushed away Ice Cube's son, another lifelong wrestling fan. Tony, his bad booking, and the Bucks (aka the Sippy Cup Crew) are detrimental to their product.

Here's the thing tho, people who have that specific criticism of aew don't understand why aew exists. All that you just mentioned can be done better by wwe, so why would someone turn to aew. Aew doesn't work as a storytelling promotion, the idea is to have the best matches, like I don't like weekly tv, I hate sitting through promos and backstage segments. And honestly a lot of the time wwe feels very boring because the in ring product just isn't as good
@jacobrobinson66034 ай бұрын
@@ballisticb Professional wrestling is meant to entertain people. WWE builds feuds and has great storylines to build up peoples characters. Whilst AEW just goes for the hard-core wrestling fans, which theres nothing wrong with it, but AEW has way too much talent and half of them is rarely used other then the ones you see each and every week. Tony is too focused on the wrestling aspect while not focusing on building up his talent and having them showcase and build up their characters.

That’s how groups work, The larger the group, the more toxic, the more of your beauty as an individual you have to surrender for the sake of group thought. And when you suspend your individual beauty you also give up a lot of your humanity. You will do things in the name of a group that you would never do on your own. Injuring, hurting, killing, drinking are all part of it, because you've lost your identity, because you now owe your allegiance to this thing that's bigger than you are and that controls you.

For example, when it comes to WWE, I'm usually too busy to catch up on what's happening there if I was to watch every moment from Raw, Smackdown, NXT, etc. But they do have their top 10 moments from the shows, and I always watch those to be caught up with what's going on, and there are also some content creators I enjoy that review those shows. As for AEW, I really haven't found anything similar to that that really makes the watching experience more schedule-friendly

My favorite player is Bron and my favorites team are my hometown Cavs. The Lakers and Cavs are both gone from the playoffs. I'm still watching every game I can catch because I love the sport more so than my favorite teams or players. When I was a kid I was lucky enough to have cable in my bedroom and Nitro did a rerun at midnight? 1am? Whatever. I was able to watch Raw as it aired and watch Nitro on the rerun and sleep for the first hour and a half of school every Tuesday morning. Why not watch it all?

I'll never understand those who do this and only allow you to watch WWE or only watch AEW. Let people watch what they like instead of going "no you cant watch that because I dont like that!"

I'm going to put a lot of the tribalist mentality on the WWE for how they presented the Monday Night Wars historically and how they had to conduct themselves during the mid to late 90s. And in fairness that's what they had to do to survive. Conflict is a built in feature of humanity; Coke vs Pepsi, Chocolate vs Vanilla, WWE vs WCW, Smackdown Vs Raw, Your team vs My Team. I just wish fans wouldn't take it all as serious as they do, like anybody on the show gives a shit which show you're at.

I think a lot of people forget Aew is only five years old . so I believe they're still figuring it out . but on the other hand in ten year the shoot interviews are gonna be wild .

Growing up i always flipped back and forth between WWF, WCW, ECW and any independent i could, but when "WWE" emerged and try to rewrite history and expected fans to have memory loss, that put a thorn in my side. Then it became more and more entertainment than sports entertainment thanks to Mcmahon and very corporate feeling, everything is the same and of course we tell you what to like and the most pandering i have ever seen done to toot their own horn. Not to mention the 40 years of coverups and crime that finally has caught up to Vince. I haven't watch any of the new TKO produced stuff with Hunter at the helm but i l just turned to more non "wwe" products like TNA, New Japan, ROH (pre and after AEW acquisition), Indies and now AEW just to have something different and not have to alwsys go with the status quo.

He's right. Once upon a time i watched all of WWEs stuff, the occasional WCW show and then TNA when they had a TV deal in the UK. Tribalism is bad.
