Good tips! Sometimes I use vertex snap with the slice tool so I don't miss-click veritces, it can be slightly faster but I still prefer clicking an edge and sliding to the vertex, which works pretty much in all modeling packages(they do have the same issue you showed, and probably worse)

Can in edge slice w/ multi slice ticked be bound to a hot key in some way?

It can. You'd have to set up a tool specific hot key to do it. I don't think I have a video on that yet but there are some others ... search around a bit. :)

Actually, I think if you hold control while clicking it will split the edge in the middle ... no script required!

multislice should be default, and should be disabling the highlighting effect thing on poly, its kinda annoying

I covered that in the video. It helps, but you can still miss your clicks or slide when you don't mean to. Click and slide is the most foolproof method I've found.
