I KNOW RIGHT! The irony is fricken palpable. I was talkin to my hub the other night about this. I was like.. you know it's so funny.. my first game I played corpo and was smitten over Takemura.. then he screwed me over and i was all heartbroken but I should have known better. My 2nd game, I went nomad.. and I was like man.. Johnny is right about this shit! LOL. I romanced Kerry this time by using the simple menu mod.. and it was so much better blowing up his manager's yacht this time around. I definitely was not in the right place for it the first time through.. but I'm there now lol.

@eremmon Thanks for you thoughts as a TTRPG player! I didn't even think of Lizzy as being cyberpsycho.. how funny is that! I actually just did that quest and the first time I played it.. I actually thought that maybe she wasn't herself anymore and had been replaced with the engram. I never went and talked to her boyfriend in the room with the arasaka rep because I didn't know you could. This time I talked to him and he explained a lot more about how she was getting violent and he was afraid for his life. Even with cyberpsychosis on my mind, I wasn't even catching it. I actually really want to try the TTRPG.. I feel like being a netrunner would be so awesome.. but it's lacking in the game aside from other characters who do it.

Thank you Mmogurl! It is good to be able to see your video even though it isn't the original video. I don't see the problem with showing other people's videos. It is like free advertising. Other reviewers show shows all of the time. Why pick on your channel? I think if The Critical Drinker took hold of your Edgerunners females video and made a response to you on the video since he harps on the way females are written, his video wouldn't be flagged. I would be so happy, I'd be like, guess who went over a video you did? He mentioned you! He shows shows all of the time on his channel. Maybe we have to find you 1 million more subscribers like he has?

From one person in a difficult time to another: I’m sorry you had to go through all that. I have at least a bit of insight into Google’s handling of this stuff, given how much of it is based where I live, and I once worked in the same office room as their copyright reviewers did. Many copyright reviewers are contract workers with very high turnover, working off a woefully uninformative manual, in one of those dreadful offices where you have to pay twice as much as you normally would if you want to eat onsite in the cafeteria with the regular employees who eat for free. It’s conveniently the only source of purchasable food in the general area. They aren’t meant to truly understand copyright, just to over-police it by reviewing things in the arbitrary way they are told to do. The results are predictable. I know that once things pass a certain point, they can turn it over either to a different higher department or the copyright holder themselves. I think you more than deserve a break to recharge before coming back, if that’s what you wanna do.

I mean that sucks.. I get it.. I figured most of their workers were probably from overseas too given most corps like to outsource these days. Still, it's maddening how they manage to produce this wall between them and the people who are basically making them a lot of money.. They take a huge amount of the proceeds I make from ad revenue.. and when I think about how much their raking in from big time creators getting millions of views.. it's messed up that they don't even bother to give people more direction or explanation.

If I remeber it correctly the tabletop rulebook also mentions that traumatic events can trigger cyberpsychosis if you are already on the edge, and if it is traumatic enough it can lead to a permanent loss of humanity stats.

I understood what the game was telling me as I got deeper into the world and did all the Cyberpsycho missions ( especially the one Reyes gives you to check in on a netrunner who it turns out was killed by her sister that she took in ( the sister was definitely showing signs of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia if you read the shards)

Great video, glad you made it out. The main character is an exception because of the engram. Johhny is basically sharing the load with the chip constantly repairing any damage.

You've really done your research for this. Your calm voice and the depth of the information makes this very enjoyable to watch! YT copyright strikes are a joke that have made many content creators to stop completely, but in my opinion this video (and others of yours) work very well with out Edgerunners clips, so do please consider trusting your own "pull" (voice and content) if it makes creating content easier for you :)

I've been watching your channel for the last year or so and really appreciate your hard work on giving us some free entertainment. I found your channel from some random bg3 content, but I enjoyed being able to hear a thoughtful critique on what is already one of my favorite games. I think this is your strong suit. You care about the stories and characters. Hearing someone who cares about something you ALSO share a connection with is high quality stuff. However, it definitely takes a lot to pump out high quality, thoughtful content on top of living your normal life. I hope you take pride in what you've done so far and I hope you make more going forward, but ya know it's hard for the "little guys" to deal with big corporations and their whims. Cyberpunk is such a rich world that is limited by most of its world building being found in just the main missions and then in data logs scattered around the world. There are logs in the game referencing cyberpsychosis but none of the effects are experienced. You can be borged out more than Adam smasher(especially with mods to uncap attributes) and be just fine. I wish they had added some 'consequence' or reference to cyberpsychosis in the game with the edgerunners update. But hey they did add Rebecca's shotgun which is pretty cool. I'm definitely going to stay subbed to see what you put out, stay positive, you're doing awesome.

Even with all the censorship, I think the video does a very good job at telling the information you want to express, it's really a shame youtube allows this kind of thing to happen to it's creators, it is unfair and they should be the ones to defend you. Anyway the cyberpsycosis theme is really interesting and I'm really liking this "I'll make this video because it's a really interesting topic that I want to talk about and share with others" type of content, it really shows that you care about this content more than just what seams the audience wants, which is unclear and doesn't really work. Anyway I wish you the greatest of luck and have an incredible day!

@@Mmogurl It´s great to see that Edgerunners revive a game that although had a really REALLY bad initial release, has so much potential, not only the game itself, but also the story and topics about humanity, addiction and about the society in general. I haven't played the game and still haven't watch the anime, but you sure as hell are giving me some good reasons to do so. So keep the good work and don't get down for youtube's bullshit, for a lot of us, your content is very very special and it will be a real shame if it just disappeard. Let's hope this one sticks. 1:22 Yes, if it's their content that they are looking for in your video then the corporations that own that content can manually go through your video and check it out themselves if they want to. More than that, if the content ID system thinks that you own the video they'll let you go in and search other people's videos to see if the content is yours, even if you don't own anything on it. Their system needs a MAJOR overhaul.

They mentioned previously that they had access to other channels content for review because they also made a review video for something first and the other channel had similar footage and the ID system thought that they owned it, so they were given full access to review and copyright strike that content if they wanted to. Cyberpsychosis in 2077 is different for V because you are the player. Everytime you choose to kill someone rather than knock them out, everytime you go on a killing spree. That is you becoming a cyberpyscho, V became one the moment you the player took control.

I was always of the opinion that V is kind of cyberpsycho because of the Relic. I mean think about it, V is generally murderous... or at least has a high body count if you look at all the gangers they flatline. And Johnny is arguably a split personality from a certain perspective. Eventually (I haven't played all the way through but I know some endings) if the Relic were left alone, V would be gone and just Johnny would remain. Unrelated - I think there is a quote from the writer of the tabletop game that makes an interesting comparison. Not everyone who takes steroids will get roid-rage, the steroids only exasperbate what is already there, and that cybernetics work the same way. So exposing David to that BD over and over again plants the seed of cyberpsychosis, which his cyberware will exasberbate. In game terms, lowering his Empathy score rather than raising the amount of cyberware he has (with fear/pain from the BD).

So Shadowrun wich has alot of roots from Cyberpunk defines something similar to Cyberpsycosis as your Meat brain not reacting well to implant. In short while a cybernetic limb can be stronger then a meat one it dosent feel the same as the real thing they even described having cybereyes being the equivalent of constant watching through a camera. The more invasive the implant like Sadevistan basicly replacing a large portion of your nervous system and spine and you get very diffrent input through your daily life. Now imagine having your entire body like that your brain basicly feels like a body thats not its own so it can freak up your psyche creating a sort of "brain in a jar" effect. There is also a bunch of other factors like implant quality or the body straight up rejecting the implant.. like your brain has problem interfacing with it. Thats why David was special his body had a high tolerance for cyber implantation.. adapted to it better.. They talk about that in one of the Deus Ex.. I think Human Revolution? not the last one the one before that. The reasons Maine says he can't downgrade is honestly because as a merc vs corpo security and other cybered up people its an arms race. So you always have to upgrade to keep up and since Corpo own most of the implants distibution theyres the ones setting the bar.

Like seriously X_X I can't tell you how many times I'm being told how good it is and I own Human Revolution too.. but I haven't sat down to play it cuz my Steam library is just too big lol. I need to stop making excuses and make it a priority though. Also.. That makes sense about Maine.. it's almost like celebrities getting plastic surgery. You won't get the roles (gigs) unless you get that lift and botox (new implants) and you obviously never want to go back to being old and haggard when your job is being beautiful. Ironically though, I always notice plastic surgery and find it unattractive.. So.. it's a racket for the people involved and nobody else cares. Good to see you and Good write up! It's very sad and hilarious how a ripperdoc in Cyberpunk2077 tells you more about cyberpsychosis than the shard. Kabuki market ripperdoc, btw, and gives his reasoning why he likes to be all natural. Implants and cybernetics take away one's muscle mass/mental stability and the brain needs to compensate for that, leading to an influx of emotions. I was so stunned hearing that

Cyberpsychosis seems to reduce their victim to the violent base instincts. However, the victims can turn lucid from certain triggers. In Maine's case, it's the death of his lover. In David's case, kissing Lucy brought his mind back from the brink and kept him focused on his goal until the very end.

I used to play the TTRPG back in the day and I feel like the new portrayal of Cyberpsychos is less impactful than its original form. Cyberware is a technology which you can add to your character in other to increase your character's capabilities, but at the cost of feeling less and less like you're a part of humanity. It was this growing distance which made you progressively see people as less than you, to the point were they are inconsequential. You'd run people over in your car while drinking a soycaff and not even bat an eyelash. OTOH, Edgerunner portrays it as your body rebelling against the implants (at least, that's how I understood it from the use of the immunosuppressants). It's not so much a psychological slope as it is a biological one. Lizzy Wizzy in CP2077 was actually a great example of how I originally envisioned Cyberpsychosis, where she doesn't feel horror at murdering her producer. It's just something that happened; Oops, I broke him. I mean, she pretends to be horrified, but that quickly passes and she's just wondering how she can weave the feeling into a song. Applying that to V would have been a bit harder, but maybe as you implant more Cyberware, you find your dialogue choices reducing themselves to shorter, more impersonal responses. Would have made for great writing, but I can see how it would have made developing the game a lot harder. I could go on (and on!), but that covers my overall thoughts. Now I feel like I need to try out the new TTRPG...

There’s a mod that brings the game closer to its TTRPG roots where you get a “humanity” meter that changes as you get more cyberware (the higher quality the less it effects the meter), the more people you kill ( encouraging you to try non lethal methods)

Iirc the game devs felt that portraying cyberpsychosis the way it is in the ttrpg would be offensive to people who use prosthetics. But I feel like there's a difference between a person who is missing a limb using a prosthetic and a guy who keeps replacing working limbs with chrome
