I love these greens more than anything else. I will be in Crete very soon so watch your Horta reserves, I may eat them all.

Just a caution that there are poisonous relatives of parsley that have similar looking leaves. Also snails can eat things toxic to people certain mushrooms for example so I wouldn't rely on that as a rule of thumb better to actually identify what the plant is first.

Love the video. Have recently gotten into foraging in Crete (Chania area) and would love to know if there is a community here somewhere that I could learn from. I am a beginner but have had some pointers on what to and what not to eat. So far I've been blending nettles, young olive leaves, white carrot and grape vine leaves to drink and I feel so much healthier for it. I find myself scanning everything now wondering if I can eat it lol Anyway I have no idea how I would contact you so I'll just leave this here in hope of a reply. Happy foraging

hey there Oliver, Chania is such a lovely part of the island! i was more on the East side of Crete and rather just met with the locals who were picking. go and ask them and they have all sorts of special names for Dandelions. and you know how lovely the people are there - they will love to show you!

@@EdibleAlchemy Hey there. thanks for the reply. Chania is beautiful though I'm thinking about venturing south at some point maybe for the winter. I haven't seen the east yet at all unfortunately. I'm going to ask anyone I can but it's almost like the more someone knows about foraging the less English they speak lol. I was thinking to look for a book with pictures. Perhaps even set up foraging day trips and advertise for someone who's good at it and bilingual. Anyway thanks again for reply and if you know of any communities here that might be interested in taking on a worker in exchange for some education I'd be very eager to know. Take care. Olly

Hi, new subscriber here. Do you know which variety of salvia the wild sage is thet you spoke of?
@alexisgoertz2 жыл бұрын
they call it faskomilo - or mountain sage - however when you look that up somewhere it just says 'faskomilo' means sage. the mountain sage is however much stronger. it is the variety Salvia fruticosa
@angeladyson73672 жыл бұрын
@@alexisgoertz Thank you. Yes I see it is commonly known as Greek Sage. When it was said that it isn't the herb for pregnant women I thought it must be Salvia sclarea (Clary sage) but obviously there is more than one variety of sage that pregnant women should steer clear of. 😊

As in common lawn weeds that we kill cuz they ruin the uniformity of our grass?
@EdibleAlchemy4 жыл бұрын
many weeds like dandelion and clover are really nutritious. but yes, the ones that ruin the uniformity of our grass :D
