Which gold and silver paints did you think were best? ✨ Do you have any other good brands I didn't try? Comment below!!

Chose same. Just started following you. I love that you are easy to watch. Do you have a favorite-all natural powder or liquid color? Or can you do a video on how to paint fondant and chocolate with plant based food dyes or powders? I saw another video where you used cocoa powder, but what about other plant powders? I read that blue food color is unhealthy and is used in sprinkles (banned in all but USA)...so want to be sure not using toxic stuff.

OMG I totally appreciate every second, minute, hours, and days of research and time that you invested and sharing your findings with your fans. Your technique of testing and comparison was clever and well thought-out. Prior to you applying the gold leaf I thought the first 4. The gold leaf was definitely a good test of comparison. I like the same as you. Please know you’re so appreciated and I’m shocked you don’t have more views and likes for this video.

Thank you so much for this video. I've spent hours trying to find a gold for Shamrock cookies that I'll be using Royal Icing..the gold is just for highlighting. The problem is that so many of the colors here in the states (doesn't matter which brand) they all contain Titanium Dioxide, which is apparently ok with the FDA; however, Europe banned Titanium Dioxide a while ago and none of their foods or cosmetics contain it. I had seen HomeHere Luster Powder was made in France...so I'm going with that one. You did an awesome job with this video. Bravo!

Hi there! Am working on coloring some stars cut out from baking white chocolate chips and went with your fave choice here, the PCB. But...what can I use to mix the dust to paint over white chocolate? I was told I shan't use either vodka or lemon extract over white chocolate? Thank you! I am an amateur and lots to learn!
@BrittneeKay Жыл бұрын
Oh I would totally use vodka or lemon extract over white chocolate. What was the reason you were told not to, just curious! :) I will say though that I do find gold and silver both show much better when it comes to chocolate over dark chocolate. They just end up looking more saturated, whereas over white chocolate they end up a bit diluted and lighter in color. But of course it just comes down to preference! Let me know if that helps!

I very much appreciated this! Also, I haven’t been terribly worried about the gold that isn’t FDA approved because the US is the only place it isn’t. Since I feel like many other countries have more stringent laws regarding food additives, I kinda feel like if they all allow it it can’t really be that bad? 🤷🏼♀️
@BrittneeKay Жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm not super worried about it either. I used the "non-toxic" one for years and in small doses I'm sure it's fine. It's all kind of confusing for sure! Also, I think the FDA is kind of a joke and can't really be trusted to begin with...so it's all up to us to decide I think!! 😆 But I guess the more we know the better decisions we can try to make! 😃

Thank you so much for this amazing video! I thought that I would share some of my findings, since I happened to notice a couple things that may have been missed. The third dust (PCB aka HomeHere) claims to be 100% edible, but there was one commenter on Amazon that claims to have tried microwaving it and that it set her microwave on fire, implying that it actually does have heavy metals in it. That is all I have found regarding that one, but because the label was so questionable, I figure that person's experience is worth at least a grain of salt. The Sunflower Sugar Art dust that was displayed as being for decoration purposes only is their Highlighter, which is under their Craft section rather than Edible section. Why companies like to say that it goes well on foods like fondant and chocolate is beyond me - it's so misleading and dangerous for them to do that! So I can't tell you how much I appreciate all the research and money that you spent to experiment with these and share the results. Better to be safe than sorry! 💜
@BrittneeKay Жыл бұрын
Thank you!! I agree that the Amazon brand is questionable…I wonder if they are fraudulent 😤 But if you can find the real PCB brand, it is legit and I have seen many professional chocolatiers use it at this point. I even bought it from another source and it’s weird because it actually looks exactly the same as that HomeHere brand so it’s confusing. With that said, I think purchasing from a food supply store is probably more reliable! And yeah everyone seems to use the Sunflower Sugar Art 😕 Thanks for your comment!!

Will the colors come out the same if using Everclear?
@BrittneeKay Жыл бұрын
I haven't personally used Everclear but I've heard it is a great replacement for the lemon extract along with vodka. You can also use 200 proof food grade ethanol. :)

I was going to buy The Sugar Art Mermaid for a mermaid cake. What did you think of it in person? Have you tried or compared it to Roxy and Rich Teal or Turquoise? Have you tried the Roxy and Rich Sparkle dusts? Will the sparkle dust paint well or just sprinkle on? Thank you in advance. Wish I saw this before I bought silver and gold from CK Products.
@BrittneeKay3 жыл бұрын
The Sugar Art Mermaid one worked really well and was super pretty! I would recommend any of their colors! I haven't tried the R&R sparkle dusts. Usually ones that are sparkles don't work well for mixing and painting. Sorry you already bought the CK, but you can definitely still use it on items that people maybe don't eat on cakes (like decorations you take off before serving) because it is non-toxic. :D Hope that helps!
@Glaze7773 жыл бұрын
@@BrittneeKay Thank you for the response. CK says edible luster dust so I assumed it was edible. R and R has a luster dust as well but the warning about sparkle dust was very helpful. This will be my first time working with the dusts. Specifically for 3 different projects - a purple amethyst for an elegant version of a bling cake, Christmas red (possibly deeper so it can double on a goth cake) to stencil on sugar cookies that I want to have texture and glisten's like snow, and a cake with a few mermaids I'll make out of modeling chocolate, paint with a luster dust, and add the sparkle dust over parts so it looks like it's shimmering in moonlight. I was thinking either a typical teal or turquoise with some type of deeper blue and incorporating a copper glitter I already have. I've been having a hard time finding comparisons between brands with these colors, between shades within each brand, and between the dust types. There seem to be so many - highlighter, petal luster, iridescent, sparkle, etc and without seeing or testing them in person it's hard. Right now I'm considering Bakell, Roxy and Rich, The Sugar Art, and now Home Here after your review. If you or anyone knows of any online resources to help chose, I'd greatly appreciate it.

@@Glaze777 Yes! With so many things available it's hard to predict, sometimes you just have to take a chance and test them out. Sounds like you've got lots of fun projects to have fun with! You should send me some pics on instagram once you've made them, I'd love to see!

If I painted the PCB gold dust on strawberries, how long will the gold stay shiny in terms of hours and days?
@BrittneeKay2 жыл бұрын
Hmm in theory it should stay inevitably, but if the strawberries were to get juicy and soft and the fridge is humid that could affect the shine. But even with that I would say you're pretty safe to try it and it'll stay for a long time!

Depends on which brand. But generally it can rub off on your fingers if you swipe it but it stays on quite well and won't just fall off.

At first I thought it was really stupid hearing "edible gold" wondering why the heck anybody would eat a valuable metal. Then I searched it up and it's actual gold and thought it was really stupid and a waste "How much do you need to eat until you've consumed enough for a working iphone". Then I found it seriously hilarious thinking "Why the hell would you eat a cell phone!" I bursted out laughing saying it out loud. People waste money and a valuable practical resource to brag or make something look nice for no added health or flavor benefit to eat in practice a cell phone or iphone, a mini computer.
