Great tutorial Lynz - I love that your videos show such practical ideas/methods, and you explain them so well - it's like you read my mind! Wish I was in the UK (I'm NZ) so I could access the variety of cake decorating items there .. xx

There are also metallic paints that come in a spray can such as Wilton. They are pretty good, dry fast and don't leave brush marks. They are available at any craft store like Michaels. Thank you for a great video!

you are an amazing person . i always watch your tutorials. i have a question for you . where would you keep your metallic painted cakes once they are done. in the fridge or over the counter. i live in florida and the heat here forces me to put them in the fridge but when i take them out they sweat and wash away the paint. also what do you think is best using airbrush or hand paint with alcohol.for metallic finish. thanks

Hi mam Can we use oil mean any cooking oil for our luster dust??? Guide me plz
@CakesbyLynz3 жыл бұрын
Hi Shahbaz, I actually tested out oil as I had heard people use it, but I personally couldn't get it to dry. I left it for a few days and it was still wet to the touch. Anything oil based that I tried had the same effect. These 6 options I found worked the best.

Hi Victoria, have you tried dipping solution. I always found with alcohol like vodka it took a really long time to dry too, but with dipping solution it dries really quickly.

I use oil to cover my toppers. But when i tuch them, luster dust still coming out. What should i do??
@CakesbyLynz3 жыл бұрын
Is the lustre dust coming off like dry lustre powder or is the paint still wet? I find that if using oil it stays quite wet for longer than some other solutions. With things like dipping solution as the dipping solution evaporates the lustre dust turns back to dust form. If you can you can brush over the top with a large fluffy brush to get off any left over dust to stop it coming off. I really hope this helps.

Unless you have an allergy to alcohol I wouldn't be concerned about using vodka (or any kind of alcohol) to paint your cake, as the paint dries the alcohol content evaporates out leaving so little actual alcohol behind it might as well not even be there
