Great video. I threw some lettuce seeds in my front bed this morning behind some ornamentals. Joe, what is "compost soil" as opposed to soil with compost? I don't think you've mentioned that before.

I love this idea, but how do you keep the chipmunks, squirrels and deer from eating your plants? Fencing it in wouldn’t look that attractive for a front yard. Any suggestions?

I have sprinkled red pepper flakes on plants, and it helps to keep them from being eaten. I also drape bird-x netting over some plants. It's black plastic mesh, and you can't see it unless you get up really close.

If you have a cat or dog putting their fur around the base of the plants can help, the rabbits don't like the smell of predators

I wonder what to do with a container moss garden in a Michigan winter. Would it go dormant and be safe in a garage? Should it be left out and ok to freeze? It probably would die indoors...??

I wish you would put the product names in the show notes! I rewatched several times, but could not figure out what the nitrogen fertilizer name was. This is not the first time this has happened, so frustrating.

Why do the Americans and English need to have SO MUCH GRASS? They could take some feet off the edges and plant much more food without destroying the esthetic....
@meevluv3 жыл бұрын
In the 50s this whole idea of dream house with a big grass lawn was sold to middle class families. There was a huge economic boom after WW2 and many more ppl could afford those. Then this became the accepted style of yard and it became uncouth and even "embarrassing" to have a natural garden. Americans are very slowly starting to change their cultural view on grass yards now.

The grass turf lawn is an ecological tragedy of epic proportions - leading to habitat collapse, waterway eutrophication, potable water waste, and large scale exposure to toxic pesticides. (Check out Homegrown National Park)

I just can't use milorganite on veggies ever since I found out it's made from human waste and sewage :{ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milorganite

There's nothing wrong with that! The process uses bacteria to break down all the waste products so it is safe for growing food

Sneaky gardening 😁 It isn't like a neighbor leaving an ugly, broken down car in the driveway, it's plants 🤨
