The white flowers from the first 2 cactuses are extremely delicious. Even me who is not very good at cooking can assure the taste. I tried them with garlic and oyster sauce. Take out the middle part, wash and cut long section into two pieces when preparing. Put on top of cooked rice. Yummy 😋! I have learned many things from this video. Thank you very much for sharing. Big heart from Thailand

I've always wondered if it was safe to eat those pretty columnar cactus fruits! Do any of the local cafes or restaurants use them in any of their dishes?
@CuriosityMine Жыл бұрын
Hi Ali! Evidently they’re safe to eat, not sure about any local cuisine though. If I hear about anything I’ll be sure to feature it on here!

It’s hard to find anything nice about Hudson’s Pear Cacti ….. nasty beast of a succulent Very informative
@CuriosityMine Жыл бұрын
Agreed! I must admit that Hudson Pear has a kind of cruel beauty to it, it’s a magnificently horrible plant. It’s also a marvel of evolution simply because it’s so freaking nasty. But it’s definitely not easy to look at and it’s far from pretty! Thanks for the comment! 😁

Aaaargh, you're absolutely spot on. I'll make up for it next time! That's what I get for rushing a video out before traveling. Sorry sorry sorry!

@Curiosity Mine all good Russ, just stirring you mate! Although would like to see your take on og monster on your other channel 😉😂

I appreciate the pickup though! Definitely will make sure to rectify that on the next video. 👍 OG monster or OG mother? Because I’m not going near OG mother with a ten foot pole 🤣

Thank you and the local botanist for this video. Our local invasive is prickly pear. Tiny hair like spines on front. Blow torched off, the fruit is quite good. Greetings from Dimboola, in Victoria.

Hi Nancy! We have prickly pear in abundance up here, too. It just doesn’t get the attention that the Hudson Pear receives because Hudson is so horribly vicious. Thanks for your comment, always appreciated.
