One more thing to add to this video: The plastic orange piece that is removed from each cartridge needs to be put back when refilling the cartridges. I found out the hard way that if you discard them, your ink will continue to leak out the bottom when you go to refill them! By the time I figured this out, I had already assumed they were just used to protect the cartridges during shipping and had thrown them out! I ruined both the cartridges and my printer from trying to refill them without this piece. :(

I am planning to buy a printer but I wont be using it once a week, I may take a little longer. Please tell me as to what I can do about it. Maybe because she uses canon. When I bought a Canon printer a few years ago, retailer once told me that I have to print at least full coloured printing once a week to avoid clogging and what not. Not sure if it is applicable to other brand. But so far, my HP printer works well even though I havent been using it for a month.

Good video lol I wonder how many bakeries print their statements with regular ink then print edible ink. Also in factories they test printers with regular ink so theres most likely non edible ink residue on the rollers which can lead to eating real ink. Cannon is not a food company. I would think theres a special printer for edible ink not using an office printer for food safety

This was super useful! Just bought this printer, with refillable inks etc, and was a little bit unsure of a few things, so your video really helped! Especially that little tidbit about the cartidges with a drip or two to clean off, I panicked when I saw that there was ink coming out of it, but after a little dab all was well! Phew! :)

From all the research we have done, what you're describing sounds dangerous for the consumer. I know I wouldn't eat ink from a printer that has chemicals etc in it. I also know, I would never serve it to a customer either.

I haven't tried it, but I highly doubt it because it will reduce the quality of the image by a lot. I would suggest scanning the photo, saving it as an image and then try printing it.

I just went to icing images and it says that after buying the cartridges for $70, they can only be refilled 3 times? that's seems like it's going to be quite pricy if you do a lot of edible images to have to keep replacing. I had the same experience. It wasn't mentioned in the video, but you must keep the orange plastic tabs that come with your cartridges in order to keep them from leaking out the bottom when you go to refill them. I didn't find this out until after I assumed they were parts to be disposed of and I threw them out. :(

it has to be a new printer that was not used with any non-edible ink because you can get ink poisoning if there is any residue of ink in it. so no you can not use a slightly used printer unless the previous owner only used edible ink with it
