You're welcome Dee! It definitely seems more intimidating than it actually is. It's super easy to use and ever since I've gotten one, I've used it weekly! I did see that the site where I got mine, there is a shortage in printer production right now and they had to increase the price. They said hopefully it's temporary, so shop around before you pick one. Hopefully they will be back in full production again shortly!

It's a setting that you have to have on the printer. I would Google it to see how it's done on your specific model!

It's a setting you have to do through your computer. Not on the printer! So you have to go to the printer setup on your computer and do it that way. You can google it as I don't remember how off the top of my head!

Hey btw I just want to say I am greatful for you. I have one question as I am doing my research of edible printers. I am a beginner and wouldn't use the printer often I see you said use it weekly or it will clog. Does that mean I shouldn't purchase one if I'm using it once or twice a month?

You can purchase one, you just have to print a tester page every week to keep the ink running through the system. It's really a judgement call, do you use edible images enough that you'd want a printer? Or do you want to pay someone else to print them for you? I was doing the latter until I started using them so much, that it made sense for me to invest in the system.

Microsoft Word came installed on my computer (through Microsoft Office). It is a program that you have to purchase if your computer doesn't already have it. And it's just a learning process with the new system, you'll get used to it after working with it for a little bit! Thank you! I usually don't apply the edible images directly to buttercream cakes. If you are in a humid climate and the cake starts to sweat, it could ruin the image. So you just have to be really careful. And whipped cream has a high water content and the edible image definitely won't last long on that.

Icing sheets are thicker and better for decorations that you adhere to fondant or wrap on a cake. The wafer sheets are thinner and more delicate, best used for decorations like butterflies or flowers.

Hi! Icing Images actually recommends you use their iPrint system to print. But I found that wasn't necessary. I'm sure you can use whatever program you have to print. Try it out on a tester page (regular paper) before you print on an icing sheet to see if it works!

Your image came out great! You've got a new subscriber! I just recently received the same printer and my edible images come out dull and dark. Lots of fourms say to adjust the "intensity" in the color management of the printer settings but I don't have that option. Does your printer settings have the "intensity" option?

Hi Akeshia! I actually haven't used that setting, but from doing some research, it looks like there is an intensity setting. I am going to look into it, I printed an image last week and the black turned out more of a navy blue. So it would be nice if there was an adjustment that could be made.

I'm having difficulty with an almost hot pink color that keeps coming out purple. If I find anything, I'll be sure to share it as well. It can be a pain sometimes 😄

how long does it last once its on the cake? how do you store it?

I have put the images on cakes up to 4 days in advance and haven't had any issues. I store all of my cakes in the refrigerator, so the images are on the cakes in the fridge. If you print them out and want to store them while not on the cake, I recommend keeping them in a ziplock bag. The best storage bag is the silver envelope that the icing sheets come in (I always keep them), but most people don't have those. I wouldn't print them more than 5 days in advance as the colors could start to fade or the icing sheet could start to dry out. You want to make sure that if it's hot / humid, you GRADUALLY bring the cake to room temp, especially if you have an edible image on it so it doesn't sweat. Condensation on the cake could ruin the image. I hope that helps!

It can go directly onto the treats. The main reason I put it on a piece of fondant is to prevent it from wrinkling and to add an extra layer of protection so the ink doesn't fade or bleed.

You don't have to put it on fondant. I just prefer to do it that way because I feel like it holds its shape better and is less prone to tearing. But you can definitely just stick it to buttercream! I always use a little piping gel, make sure you get the piping gel all around the edges so they stick to the buttercream and won't curl up.

I believe you can use the flex frost sheets found on IcingImages.com website to print and put on chocolate. I don't think the regular edible paper I used in this video would work on chocolate.

Sometimes I put them on the cake right away, sometimes I have let them dry up to 5 days. I guess it all depends on what I have going on that week!

I'm not sure if it will work without a computer. The only thing I can think of is if you have a printer that is compatible with a smart phone, you might be able to print from your phone. But again, I am not sure if that will work.

You can't use a printer that has had regular ink run through the system. Like if you want to take the regular cartridges out of your printer and put edible ones in there...you should not do that. Regular printer ink is toxic and is in the printer head. If you print out an edible image on a printer that had regular ink in it, the toxic ink is still in that printer. And you don't want anyone to eat the toxic ink. So I have a printer that is completely separate from the one I use for everyday use. My edible printer is ONLY used for my edible images. No regular ink has (or ever will be) in that printer. I hope that makes sense!

You don't have to. I just find that when you adhere the image to fondant that it keeps its shape. It doesn't warp or wrinkle. But you can stick it directly onto a cake without the fondant on the back.

Yessss!! I still have this one and I use it weekly and love it! I have to maintain it. I've had to unclog the printhead a few times. But as long as I am diligent about printing test pages, I rarely have issues! I have an alarm in my phone that goes off every Tuesday at 11:30am to remind me to print a test page.

It is edible ink that I got from Icing Images website. You must only use edible ink and never put it in a printer that has had regular ink in it as regular printer ink is toxic.

I guess I just never saw the point of my investing and all this when you’re just gonna put it on fondant I mean I understand if you put it on a buttercream cake or whip cream cake or whatever it may be but on the phone it? Nobody eats on it most people don’t so it doesn’t really matter what goes on top of it if it’s just gonna get torn off unless I’m missing something I mean it could be a really thick piece of fun and that you put it on there’s no way it’s kind of seep through so I figure it’s gonna cut edible images on fondant it’s not really an edible image anymore because nobody eats fondant I don’t know any customers that I sell my cakes to and actually find it I’ve actually switch to modeling chocolate for most of everything because they actually eat that even the good fondant like the marshmallow fondant people still don’t want to eat that that maybe you’re fine it taste fantastic mine on the other hand is just ok

I personally hate eating fondant! I feel like it's weird. It's chewy and I don't like the texture when you're eating cake. It tastes good, but I won't eat it. I treat fondant like kale on the dinner plate. It makes it look pretty, but you just leave it there. I think most decorations on cakes aren't eaten. The parties that I have attended, most people just eat the cake and icing. At least that has been my experience. Young children do like to eat the characters and stuff like that. For the most part, I use edible images as decorations that have to hold their shape on the cake. Since I do it that way, they need support behind them. If you choose to lay the edible image flat on the cake, then you don't have to use a fondant backing. I have found that if I don't put it on fondant, it is more likely to wrinkle. This is just an option, you can totally do it whatever way you choose. There are no rules when it comes to this, that's why I love cake decorating so much!

It seems intimidating, but it is super easy, you just have to make sure you keep up with the weekly printing and maintenance so it doesn't get clogged. The cartridges that come with it are refillable 3 times before you have to get new ones. So make sure you have extra ink and cleaning supplies on hand!

Hi! I get my edible cartridges at Icing Images. Where you get the cartridges, you can input your printer model number and it will tell you which ones work. I use 280 and 281 with mine. But I would just go to the site and enter it to be sure! shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1817175&u=2948238&m=113258&urllink=&afftrack= Click the link above, then on the site, click EDIBLE INK, then EDIBLE INK CARTRIDGES AND SETS, then enter the model number (TS702) in the box and see if it says the same thing!

You definitely can. I never have, so I'm not sure how to print from my phone. But if you already know how to do that, you have to make sure you have the correct settings on your printer. My blue ink is leaking inside my printer. Not sure why this is happening 😭 all the other cartridges are working fine it’s just the blue cartridge that’s leaking inside. Can you help me fix this 😩

Oh no! It could be something wrong with the cartridge. I would contact Icing Images to troubleshoot. I've never had that happen! Was it a brand new cartridge?

I'm not sure how they differ, but they are Canon printers, so they are very similar.

I already have this printer for office use can I still use it for this purpose or do I need a new one tht has never had regular ink used in it?

You have to use one that never had toxic ink running through it. Even if you clean it out, there is still toxic residue in there and someone could get really sick if they eat that!

I don't, I just cut them all out myself (or ask my mom to help me LOL) I just don't have the desire to invest in one and learn how to use it!

If you don’t want to save so many images you can try copying image then in word use cltr v to paste it there

Before you got your printing system did you ever order from a place for custom edible images?

I actually used to order from one of my local cake friends since she had the printer system. But then I found that I was spending so much money (and time driving to her) that it was more cost effective for me to invest in my own printer. And once I had it, I started using edible images way more on my cakes!

How long will the sugar image last on a cake before presenting and serving?

I have put them on a few days before serving and it has been okay! I only use Icing Images products though, I'm not sure if other brands will last as long.
