Both of these speakers are very good value for money propositions, but both come with different features and different compromises to the sound quality. R1010BT has Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, less power and less available volume. R1280T, instead of Bluetooth has remote control and because of that will be a better choice for a TV speakers replacement or bedroom system (more available headroom is a plus as well in those situations). In terms of sound quality they both sound quite similar, but I would give a nod to R1010BT for more natural, if a bit darker, midrange and to a R1280T for better bass response, more available headroom and more spacious sounds. If sound quality was the only criteria than R1280T would be my choice here. Which one would You choose? Let me know in the comments below! Cheers!

That demo confused me more than I thought. The 1010 has cleary more mids, wich makes it sound boxier, but has clear basses, guitar and vocals, while the 1280 has better highs and tighter bass. Theres another edifier that have best of both words?

I anguished over which Edifier to get and decided with the 1010's for the slightly lower price. I was going to use them as my PC speakers but they have never left my bedroom. I am very satfied with their value and performance.

Treble on them is not as exposed and that's what I like about them over R1280T. Mid seems also more squished and even though they don't sound as clear as R1280T I somehow like R1010BT more. It's just my personal preference I guess.

I agree so much! As a basshead lover, I'd recommend R1010BT for the better bold bass sound But if we wanna warm sound, then pick R1280T for the better clear balanced sound As a gamer, I'd rather choose R1010BT than R1280T, as I have both of them.

1280 are "Hi-Fi", 1080 are monitors. They should sound different, because they are made for different purposes.

Found these videos at the weekend and were really useful. I was heading toward the Pre Sonus Eris 3.5, and whilst they are clearly brilliant - chose the 1280BT as a compromise between studio monitors and speakers for listening. Only just come across Edifier and had bought some 1010s for my daughter, in trying them out I was really impressed although they are a bit closed / boxy, but don't forget they're like 60% cost of the 1280. So, the 1280s arrived (love the functionality and BT). Both to me are extremely well made for the price point. Switched it all on and...............really disappointed! Did a side by side test, and I think it comes down to two things - the 1280's need running in for a couple of hours. Also, need to get the set up on the tone controls right for your room. By midnight I was rockin! Also never realised how poor youtube output was versus spotify so that didn't help. I'll update in a few weeks.

Presonus will be better choice for You. You can add subwoofer to them as to almost any other speaker, it is just a question of proper connection method.

My recomendation is to save up a bit more and get R1700BT. These two come with too many compromises IMO.

Understood, You did the S2000 Pro sometime back in a previous video, that's what peaked my interest. From the specs it looks little if any different than the R2000DB and that's the one I want to see. Would be nice to see them against each other but I think I can get a pretty good idea comparing to a previous video.

The S2000 Pro is a couple steps up from the R2000DB. They have similar wattage and that's about it. S2000 Pro is more comparable to the S1000DB. Better materials, better drivers, etc. If my own experience is anything to go by, the S2000 Pro is likely a better speaker than the R2000DB.

While 1280 are not the best speakers, I would chose them over 1010 anytime. 1010 are boxy, dark and recessed. I don't like their sound at all, it's like they are playing from basement. I would rather buy a pair of headphones if nothing else was available. Maybe I'm too harsh, I'm sorry but I would not buy something that I can't live with.

Relax dude! The 1010 is half the price of the 1280. They are not meant to be equal. This demo is just for you to see the DIFFERENCE between the two.

I think it's a psychological effect of the transition between the speakers, so much so that if you change from 1280T to 1010BT (2:59 to 3:01) you'll notice that it's the 1010BT that has a kind of white noise.

02:40 wait till 1280 comes, you will hear it struggles a lot. Can't produce the distortion guitar rather noisy at around 2-3 khz.

Yes, it almost takes it to "white noise" levels, which kills it for me because I play a lot of metal and Amon Amarth has not one of the "hardest" distortions out there, you could say. I think I'm gonna go with the 1010 and save some money to get something above the 1280 next year.

I just bought the 1010 based on looks alone (it doesn't have the wood grain shade that all the other edifier speakers have, and in my country I can't get the other colours) and after watching this video I think i've made the right choice for me. It's mainly voice (video conferencing) that will be going through it while working from home. I have the Edifier R1700BT in the other room for watching youtube
