Is bizarre to listen to a 4 inch monitor and an 8 one, better compare Yamaha HS 8 with Genelec 8050 which is the natural counterpart. Or 8020 with 7040 subwoofer, which are made to pair for cover near full spectrum I have the latest and sound gorgeous, way better than Yamaha HS 8 which I owned before, and less footprint in my room having the sub on the floor

¡Wow! Yamaha suena a Cartón.

Thinking of getting the the Tannoy, while the Yamaha may be more uncolored, I think the Tannoy will be good for just listening as well, less harsh, plus kind of bored of the Yamaha sound

Having HS8, and to my surprise both boxes do not differ that much tonally. Regarding balance - the upper mids of HS do seemingly provide little bit of the perceived detail, as they bite bit more, whether that is always a good thing is a question. Transient wise both monitors do perform similarly, where sometimes KRK provide bit more punch, they lack the detail, and vice versa. The difference is subtle, and I believe also preferential, as I could choose one monitor over the other the other day. Yamaha has tighter low end, KRK's sound deeper, and still clear. The detail, separation and image provided by both contenders sound to me quite similar, with HS8 slightly better in couple of cases, but again - it varies with the material. Both monitors do perform great, I would have a hard time to choose if I had to decide between the two. Having Yamaha HS8 I am surprised how great the KRK's perform next to them, in this test. Given their extensive room / eq modes and front port design, I'd say KRK's may be less problematic in smaller or worse acoustic spaces, as both 8inch monitors demand proper treatment in particular, where Yammies have limited options in that regard, + being rear ported in addition to that, with the recommended placement of 1,5m from the wall.

the frequency response looks like the room they where measured in. Too much room influence to be a neutral comparison

interesting how different people like different sound. It seems more people like Presonus. I feel like Mackies have more open, lively sound. For me they sound like music would be more fun to listen to with them so I ordered them. Presonus might be more flat which is good for mixing but boring for listening if you like "Klipch" type sound.

I own the edifiers. They are great for listening to tunes but tricky to eq mixes on with the warm crowded low mids and lack of presence/high end. Its easy to cook the high end mixing on these. And they have a lot of hiss. Boosting treble on rear makes it worse. Running the edifiers with their volume on 2pm and the sound interface output cranked helps minimize hiss. I would get the presonus for mixing and check lows to mids in my beyer dt cans.

Unfair compare. Fair compare would be HS8 vs T8V. T8V is really good. Not such a mid overdrive like at the HS8.

In my opinion the HS8 has a better top end and slightly better low end. You can definitely not judge based on one single video though. But the IN-8 sound a little less harsh. To be honest, i can hear more detail on the HS8. In the mid frequency response, the Kali coud be somehow better balanced. But by taking a look at the graph response, it is visible that the HS8 provide a more flat response in comparison to the IN-8. Both monitors are somehow similar. The front port is in many cases, especially in not acoustically treated rooms a better option. All in all, i would go with the HS8. At the end, the sound is somehow more balanced and more detailed in comparison to the IN-8.

I'm trying to decide between the 1700BTs for 150eur vs 2000DB for 280eur (on sale, pvp 330eur) and to behonest if the difference is +power and better bass, since i'm planning on having this in a failry small room (15m2 office) I rather get the 1700BTs and add the extra to pair with T5 subwoofer and get full pack for the same price os the 2000DB alone. What you guys think?

As with any monitor, the mix lives in the mid range, and as such, there is nothing about the E5 that can't be corrected with a good room correction software and a measuring mic. Crap you can mix on ANY speaker, but how it translates to other systems for your end result is ALL that matters. matter of fact, unless you have a $100k studio, then either will get the job done. It's the mastering compression that really polishes a mix. What your hearing is not the waveguide, but the crossover point. If you nearfield then the dispersion is almost meaningless. Your 2~3 feet from a speaker, you should be able to drop an instrument or vocal wherever you want in the mix. If you can't hear well, ( No matter the speaker ) the most expensive monitors in the world will not make you a better engineer. You want as flat as you can get. Full range speakers are still the best for truly hearing you mixes in space.
