Edifier R2730DB vs Microlab Solo 6C || Sound Demo w/ Bass Test

Hello there! Today we compare two big powered bookshelf speakers, one from Edifier and one from Microlab. Edifier R2730DB is a three way fully active design, while Microlab solo 6C is a powered two way design and is significantly cheaper than Edifier. Let's find out which one is better! Builg quality is on similar level in both tested speakers, but Microlab looks more traditional while Edifier looks more utilitarian especially with the grilles off. Edifiers higher price is reflected in the level of functional equipment it sports. Bluetooth connectivity, digital inputs, subwoofer output, this is the equipment Edifier has and Microlab lacks. Microlab has remote control as well as tone controls to tailor the sound to Your liking (Edifier has those too). Neither has excessive levels of hiss which is nice. Sound signature of both is quite different, Edifier has a huge bass that owerpowers the experience while Microlab is more restrained, not only in bass but also in the way it presents the rest of the speactrum. In my opinion Microlab is closer to be balanced and neutral, but lacks some of the midrange opennes and speaciousness, and this is where Edifier shows the upper hand thanks to the separate midrange driver. I also like the treble of Edifier a bit more, it is smoother and more airy. To sum this comparison up, I will say that both of this speakers give solid sound for the moeny. I prefere Edifier overall, but I would not use it as a desktop speaker, mostly because of the hugge and unruly bass that will be even more unruly form a close up. Microlab is a better choice for nearfield. Edifier will work very well as a midfield speaker in bigger rooms, next to a TV for example, not only because of how it sounds but for the features as well. left is the right, amplified is the right speaker. I choosed this model, thanks for the tests. I buyed a pair for 157 USD on Emag sale. Sounds great. I listen death / goth metal and synthwave mostly. I like much bass, not missing high treble. Sound is very balanced. Great buy for this price.

@@КешаПопугай-ф6о не плохо. Косяк выплыл с пультом, пару месяцев назад, не отрабатывал повышение громкости. Отодрал аккуратно накладку с кнопками, пшикнул на контакты Бандеросом( Кинг оф седакшен), протёр ваткой, и собрал. Всё норм стало. Спирта не было под рукой просто))

This is common and natural, les Toreadors for example, is a song that always prefers "brighter" systems.. you can see how R2730 worked best on it. Solo 7C was my first monitor and to this day I have it at home, it is 2 ways.

At 10:43 you forgot to change the label. Microlab starts from 10:43 until 10:53 but it is labeled as Edifier. After 10:53 you change the label to Microlab but actually it should be the Edifier until 11:03.

Соло мне показались лучше, первое впечатление звук более открыт и чист, понял такую вещь что не могут вытягивать хорошо средние и низы колонки маленькие, у меня есть мониторы за 1.5 тыс $ 7’5 дюйма и есть s90 советская техника купили за 150$ и там и там 180 ват мощность, советская техника больше передаёт, приятнее, понимаешь что звук по настоящему должен звучать именно так, открыто, со всеми передаваемыми частотами, звук должен радовать, и на s90 я услышал то, чего не слышал на мониторах

Hi Digital Stereophony, I was wondering: have you ever looked into the manufacturer Nubert? They're a small (less than 100 people) German outfit that builds luxury HiFi hardware. You can only order directly from their shop, not via Amazon or other online retailers. When I was looking for speakers this past week, the NuPro A-100 and A-200 were recommended to me. Unfortunately out of my price range, but good lord - any review I came across was just raving in superlatives about how outstanding they are for their small size. That made me wonder how you'd think about them, and how they'd fare in your comparison videos. Would you perhaps consider giving them a try? :)

I am familiar with the Nubert, but like You said, they are on the expensive side of market and I want to focus more on the budget side. I also do not say that I will not test them at all, A100 vs JBL LSR305 and A200 vs Edifier S1000Pro would be very interesting, I just do not have plans for that right now. Cheers!

I begin to suspect that the "boomy" bass of the R2730DB can quickly become tiresome. With the exception of the clear cymbals, everything else sounded more coherent and natural to me in the Solo 6C. Unfortunately, You are right about Your suspicion, R2730DB is not a system for listeners who prefer neutral and balanced sound, its bass is too much in my opinion. Even if it You try ti fix it with tone controls, It is always a bit overpowering and lag behind the rest of the music. I have not tried to plug the bass reflex ports though...

This "lag behind" you mentioned is just the sound emitted from the back of the woofer cone and then comes out through the bass reflex duct. It comes out at the opposite phase (time lag) in relation to the sound from the front of the woofer, so it is dragged. A friend of mine owns a pair of B&W with very similar bass response and he corrected the problem with foams in the duct. It is a safe procedure because the B&W itself sends the foams in the form of a "cork". I do not own the R2730 so do not test this feature, but you could test it in your studio and comment here the result.. if anything has changed.. 😎

I am familiar with plugging the bass ports as a way of dealing with the problems like that. Honestly though, I would prefer to buy a speakers without a problem like that in the first place than buy a flawed speakers and try to fix them. Also, I have returned the speakers back, so I will not be able to check that either ;)

Probably, if you change the r2730 case to a "closed box", but larger, the sound of these speakers will improve. And you definitely need to change the top Twitter because it is too "cheap".

Solo 6 вообще хлам. Благо бухой Замотал их, так бы до сих пор смирялся с отсутствием баса в ближнем поле ( метров с 2х только бас появляется на соло 6). Ощущение как будто они в противофазе играют всегда.

I get Your point, but than, again, I do not lke generalizations like that. There are plenty of very good two way speakers as there are plenty of bad three way speakers, there is no rule here and number of "ways" does not automatically connote the real quality of the speaker. The fact that bigger speakers for mid or long range listetning and bigger spaces like to use "more ways" has as much to do with efficency as with actual quality of the sound in the end IMO. Also the wow factor comes into play, people tend to think that more is better ;)

Janis S : I have one set of Solo 6c new myself at home and i know what i'm say !Right now i listen once more this 2 set of speakers at my headphones and the mids in Edifier R2730 DB ar more shy than in Solo 6c !Edifiers are very good on bass part, and hights ! Of course this model of Edifiers cost more than Solo 6c and is sligthy powerfull !R 2730DB is compare directly with Solo 7c ( 2x 6.5 woofers and 1 x inch tweeter ) ! Is in the price range solo 7c with R2730 DB .... and probably solo 7c are better ones on sound ! ps: Edifier R2730 db sound better than Solo 6c in large rooms because it has a better low-end definition than Solo 6c, but from flat part of sound and mids personal i like more Solo 6c ! Apart from Solo 6c, i have to a set of Edifiers R1800 t at home, that sound crisper on mids than solo 6c ! Very good speakers for money, and a very good low-end that the 4 inch woofers produce ! My next speakers have to be a set of studio monitors that sound flat and natural pare with solo 6c ! I mean ... JBL LSR 305 or 308 ( 8 inch woofers one), or a set of M- audio's + 1 x 10 inch woofer !That complete a very good home set of enterteiment !But i satisfied enough with Solo 6c on flac music ( on my dining room), and my pochet-rocket's Edifier r1800t in my bedroom ! ;) Bye !

The amplifier on Edifier r2730db has max 110-120 watt , continous , that means that Solo 6c has the power and SPL higher than 2730db !And if you put them properly, i think is on the bass side to ! I test them on flacs (bass test )in a 40 m square room, and it's shake the doors and windows like an A4 sheet !Impresive power! I Listen to on the 2730 db on my good friend, and i not impresse by the SPL !Solo 6c > 2730db sorry, in any aspects !

У микролаба высокие чище, у едифера середина и бас лучше.

Да, высокие реально лучше, наверное сказывается более крупный твиттер у Соло. У Эдифайр хоть и 3 полосы, но детальность похуже, на высоких чувствуется каша

Я конечно понимаю, что тебе нравятся свои колонки. но этого не может быть. совершенно разная схемотехника. Едифаер на порядок продвинутее.

@@eldridg86 в 2730 баса больше но они гудят на басах. Не выдержишь долго слушать. И у 2730 очень круто сделан усилитель. Проэквалайзирован на заводе. Но в реальности не сильная разница. Из-за фазика спереди у эдиков бубнеж, но зато можно вплотную к стене ставить.

У273х звук как от S90 только размазаный., все заливает басом. У 6С Внутренний резонанс. На 250-300 Гц.

разные классы сравнивать .. Ну такое себе .. и в цене и во все . это разные колонки

Ну да, разные классы о соло звучат достойно, не хуже Эдиков даже в 40% случаях лучше, чем они.😮

шляпа эти эдифаеры, купил и продал через месяц, звук плоский, вч не хватает, в середине каша, бас мощный но гулкий, после того как купил в днс t&v просто офигел от разницы, а когда еще берингеры мониторы взял на сравнение, с компанией эдифаяр было завязано, полная хрень для пьянки в бане, единственный плюс, сборка качественная, остальное 3-
