S1000DB are V-shaped & the R2000DB are inverted V. S1000DB are awesome on treble & bass but are lackluster in term of vocals. While the S2000DB are better in the vocals but are lacking on the bass and treble. The bass on the S1000DB reached deeper to 40Hz while the R2000DB only reached until 45Hz. Overall S1000DB are better for me but need to do some equalizer adjustment so that the vocals comes forward a bit more. Awesome review! Your review are getting better & better, really appreciate it.

I would agree on the curve assessment, but disagree about vocals. It depends on what type listening to. For vocals in the tenor/alto range the S1000s would give a much nicer warmth and presence. Same for certain guitars. If you're mainly listening to soprano vocals the S2000s would have more clarity because the low mids are more recessed.

I'm about to pull the trigger on the R2000DB. The S1000DB absolutely sound better, and they look amazing with the covers on. Both have pretty good bass response. I'm going to put them in my garage so I have some bt speakers to connect my laptop or phone to when I'm out working on projects and want some higher quality audio than my current bt speakers. I don't think you can really go wrong either way with these based on the performance/price balance.

The silk dome of R2000 helps softening the high, so if you want relaxing session R2000 is actually better. If you are into audiophile and want to enjoy a wider range than S1000 obviously is better. I own both, R2000 in the kitchen it fits very well to everyone in the family

Here i come again. I might be able to upgrade my audio gear, and thinking that i've been extremely pleased with the r1280t for the last 2 years and a half, i thought i might aswell get another speaker set from edifier. The choice ATM falls on two models, but i'm unsure which one. First contender is the S1000DB while the 2nd is the S350DB, so we're talking about a pair of bookshelf speakers vs a 2.1 sound system, while the bookshelf are also more expensive by 100 euros on Amazon. With the R1280T i got a taste of what good speakers mean, all of my music got better, especially vocals or guitar music. I did felt the bass somewhat low on several occasions with some bass-driven tracks, but i don't mean like no bass at all, it just didn't have that little "something" to sound perfect. Now my main question is, how these two speaker sets sound in comparison? Can the S1000DB hold its own against the subwoofer on the S350DB? Also, quality-wise, is there a difference? Should i expect a higher(noticeable) quality from the s1000db? Please share a thought on this matter, thank you! P.S - I was also very interested into the JBL LSR305's , they seem to be one of the best speakers out there that don't break the bank! The only drawback is that each monitor is amplified, so i'd have to find a way around to control both speakers from one common volume pod (preferably not windows volume setting). Any thoughts on the LSR305?

Hi Radu. My advice is to go for either S1000DB or JBL LSR305 plus cheap USB interface like Behringer UMC22 or Lexicon Alpha for volume control. JBL will give You better sound, especially midrange. S1000DB will give You superior look and build quality, plus remote control and Bluetooth. Both are BIG step up from R1280T and should be better choice for music listening than S350DB

Unfortunately both S2000Pro and A200 were borrowed for the tests and returned shortly after (A200 with a LOT of hesitation) so I had no chance of comparing them side by side. What I will say now You have to take with grain of salt as memory can be deceiving, but A200 is a true step up from both S2000Pro and S1000DB. Especially the focus of sound, the rock solid images, depth of soundstage and the details across the range were all class above the two cheaper models. Is it worth the huge extra? That is hard question that everybody needs to answer by them selves, for me it was hard to part with A200. Comparison between S1000DB and S2000 Pro: they are very close to each other with S2000 being bit more laid back yet more detailed in the top end than S1000 thanks to very nice planar tweeter. Aluminum tweeter may be a bit too harsh for some, while planar tweeter is smoother in comparison and a joy to listen even on longer listening sessions. That is the main difference I remember between those two. S1000DB stays with me, so if a chance to compare them with either S2000 Pro or A200 appear I will definitely do a comparison ;) Cheers!

There is one more difference between S1000DB and S2000Pro that is not that obvious. The side panels in S2000Pro are made of solid wood while in S1000DB they are made of MDF and covered with vinyl. If looks matter for You than those side panels in S2000Pro do look more premium ;)

I just bought Edifier R2000DB a week ago and I must admit your sound tests influenced my decision greatly (along with my limited budget of course). At first, after I heard the crystal clear sound and more than satisfying bass for the first time, my jaw dropped. I should point out that (believe it or not) I've never had a decent sound system in my life. So, when those babies arrived I hooked them to my PC. Unfortunately, since day one my ears started to hurt. It's true I live in a very confined place (18m2), but still... On the third day, the pain increased, even if I was listening to only CD-quality radio online and some lossless files on my hard drive, keeping the volume lower than normal (more like background music while working). I really wanted to like those speakers (and I do, especially the build quality), I pushed myself to the limit to keep listening despite the pain, blaming myself for not having any experience with decent audio (my previous PC speakers were the cheap and trashy Logitech X-210 2.1). But today I decided I cannot take that anymore and I'll return them tomorrow. And now I'm puzzled, should I risk to invest double the price for S1000DB? What if they hurt my ears the same way? Someone told me he would never spend so much money on a set of two-amp speakers. Besides, it looks like I still don't have the option to attach a subwoofer if I decide to do so someday. I'm aware I sound a bit like a spoiled teenager, but I need some decent sound more than good food. Any advice?

I'm actually asking for a suggested alternative here. My favorite choice so far, after reading some reviews and listening for some samples, would be Edifier A200 AirPulse (it looks like A100 is not available in my country anymore), but it costs four times the price I paid for R2000Db, which is way too expensive for my extremely limited budget.

Hi man, I watched all your demos and decided to buy Edifier 2000DB. The sound is incredibly good at tropical house music, but when it comes to classical, pop music, the background music seem a bit low, although i tried to increase the treble but it still low. So how do you adjust the equalizer with pop/ classsical music, i want to hear clearly the guitar or piano in the background. Thanks man, keep up the good work.

Since You have R1700BT than You, more or less, know how R2000DB will sound, it is going to be more or less the same as R1700BT with bigger bass and more available volume. If You just watch some TV shows and do not listen to music a lot than I think there is no sense to spend more on S1000DB

IMO, the S1000DB are better--fuller mid-base, bigger presentation--BUT not, to my mind, $100 better (the current price delta over the s2000DB). I think I'm going to go with the latter. Also, I have a small space to work with, so the more compact dimensions of the S2000DB make a difference. Thanks! Great vid!

Hey man , thanks to your videos I brought s1000db a month back , I was wondering if adding a dragofly black or a cheaper fiio e10k would improve the sound as opposed to using the inbuilt dac of the speaker . I read that the onboard dac would convert the analog to digital again so wanted to get your advice before spending on a dac. Thanks! The DAC built in S1000DB is good one and using an external DAC will not change the sound S1000DB for better in any significant way. There may be a bit of difference if the DAC used will imprint its EQ on S1000DB, but that it is not a good DAC than as DACs should be as neutral as possible IMO

Bought r1900tv which is the non bluetooth version of r2000db for 100usd and sold them for 60usd because i was moving to another place (they are heavy). They now cost atleast 200usd, shouldn't have sold them. Btw, they sounded way better than r1700bt

@@DSAUDIOreview hmmm for example I listen to Nothing,Nowhere - Hammer and Nothing,Nowhere - Houdini later on in the track where I'm expecting really low sub bass from my Denon D2000 (headphone) and my Logitech Z-2300 (PC speaker with sub), I didn't really hear it from the S1000DB (both items are cheaper than S1000DB). I did some research most suggest that S1000DB has about a 2 week burn in period to open up the bass. So now I'm wondering could this be the case or maybe my room size / distance isn't optimized (I'm using it for TV, small living room) or is there a distance behind to the backwall that is recommended (since rear bass port) or maybe without sub this simply just can't get that low and I'm expecting too much? But I haven't hear a single person complain about not having enough bass (both quantity and quality) from this unit so I'm really confused, any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

Wow... to my ears with 3 pairs of headphones, R2000 sounds better because of slightly better mids. Highs of S1000 to me sound more detailed but too picky and scratchy(could be tiring). If you want a little more highs on R2000, dial the highs tone control up. Bass extension is not that important to me in music, only in movies where I connect a big sub. Too bad neither have front port, because in my setup I can not place them more de 15cm away from the wall... which with rear ported speakers would result in muddy bass... @DS do you know speakers with a similar sound that can be mounted close to the wall?

@@AbsoluteFidelity The edifier is quite balanced comparatively. The bass can be increased if required. Boombox bass is quite boosted - sometimes overpowering other aspects of the song. If you’re going for something portable and don’t have enough space for bookshelf speakers, boombox is a good option. If portability isn’t your concern, you should go ahead with the Edifier s1000 MKII.

If you think you can hear the sound quality of a speaker just by looking at one on a vid then you dont need to buy them. You just magically have them now. Either that or YOU CANT HEAR THESE SPEAKERS. You hear yours. Playing a recording of speakers picked up by whatever recording device he uses.

Через наушники слушаю, объясните что у 1000дб с верхами? Они отличаются сильно по верхам, толи у 1000 дб их больше и они правильнее и чище, толи это так кажется

качество звука всё видео плавало на одних и тех же ас ,как будто кто то баловался эквалайзером ,иногда переход между ас совершенно не заметен,автор купи нормальный исправный микрофон или не дури других если пытаешься подкрутить звук в угоду того чтобы нужные колонки звучали ярче

We cant here these speakers by watching a youtube video. Lol. All we here is whatever speakers we have playing a recorded youtube video of these speakers. Should I go check out an 8k TV youtube vid and watch it on an old tube tv? We cant here those speakers unless we are in the room with them. Ya cant magically turn your speakers into any speaker you want simply by looking at speakers on a video.

Есть разница, но очень слабая. 2000 смазанность и общая бедность звука. Но, возможно, что это скрадывает Ютуб. Я отчётливо заметила разницу не смотря на экран.

Твиттер у S-ки гораздо лучше. Но двукратная разница в цене, не оправдывает 10% отличие в звучании. Мультимедия не тот сегмент, где можно переплачивать за такое незначительное отличие. За цену 1000, можно уже смотреть на мониторные полочники.

Ничего себе нет разницы. На разной акустике слушаем. Сч и вч лучше на 1000-х. Еще и сцена более открытая на 1000-х, у 2000-х в сравнении кажется немного зажатый звук на этих частотах, но спокойнее. У 1000-й модели явно подняты вч для эффекта, может утомлять. Но надо слушать в живую это же ютуб и запись на рекордер, который не передает как слышит человек.

I have two questions: can you add a sub or amp to the s1000db and did you change the bass or treble on the speakers or you left them neutral?

Hey, not sure if this is too late for a response, but I recently added the Edifier T5 sub to the S1000DB and boy, it rocked my world. all those all-in-one satellite speakers and sub package can't compare to this combo! You just have to tweak the sub crossover correctly, and match the sub volume to the speakers (a little difficult ngl, first time adding a sub that is 'manual')
