At the show Tuesday night with girlfriend. Unfortunately back down in Surrey by Sunday or would have been there. Work as electronics engineer in the battery industry and have been a Lampy part time since uni. Girlfriend works in lighting industry too. Would have been great to meet you. Shame to miss the meet-up but looking forward to the tattoo. Keep making the videos, enjoy watching them!

You'll need 6 to 12 months notice if you want a cheap hotel in Edinburgh during the festival, if indeed it's even possible at all. It's the biggest area festival in the world.

My point is festival or not, getting a hotel and or an Intercity train at short notice *anywhere* is far more expensive. That's what I hope Clive will bear in mind next time.

My (limited) understanding is that Clive is here as part of the Edinburgh festival and, as noted in the comments, there is no such thing as advance/cheap bookings during the festival. Hotels, sadly, know well in advance that this is happening (surprise! it's August every year!) and so hotel rooms are generally 4 x standard rates this month. Booking in advance won't save any money cos they know they can get peak rates every single day. Solution: Live in Edinburgh :)

Hello Bigclive! Sorro to reach out through here, but haven't found another way to do so! I’m trying to find a way to place a 5000 mAh battery outside of the iPhone 5s case, and perhaps altogether removing the internal one if needed. The battery outside is taken from an external battery pack and off course has it’s own charging circuit (also want to be able to charge it with a regular micro USB). I would assume that just connecting the + and minus output from the external battery to the + and - of the iphone battery connector would probably not work, but I could be wrong. What you do think? Is there a way to accomplish this? I saw somewhere someone had installed a second battery outside of the iPhone, drilling a little hole in the back cover and passing the wires into the phone and paralleling the batteries… but I can’t find the page again! Your advice will be greatly appreciated; I love the phone and with a bigger battery it will be perfect! Thanks! Pedro, Tarifa, Spain

If the original battery was still in place then putting an external one in parallel would probably work, but not ideal for using as an actual pocket phone.

Yes, the 'Caley' part. It's the slang word that many Scots use for 'Caledonian'. For example, I would order a pint of Caley 80/- beer, not Caledonian 80/-, even though the latter is the correct, full name of the beverage. So, 'Caley' is pronounced 'Cal-ay', not 'kay-lee'. Kay-lee is roughly how 'cèilidh' is pronounced, which is the Scots (and Irish) Gaelic word for a social gathering.
