there are pros and cons - if you have a more volume in your forefoot or potentially aberrations such as a bunion or prominent metatarsal heads the leather gives you the best amount of comfort as it softens and deforms over these features better and can polish up a bit more in cleaning. the synthetic covers take a better beating from general wear and tear and you can just wash them easier they also deal with abrasive contact much better
