Mole is great vs machina imo. You have to keep in mind they have to neg 1 to resummon fortress every single time so mole is just straight up eating a card out of their hand every time it connects (or just hands them a brick if they don't have another machina to resummon fortress), and as soon as they seen the grand mole they have to stop attaching gearframe to fortress until it's gone which opens up plenty of other ways to out fortress that don't normally work (read: mirror force). It also deals well their sets, etc. The only card it doesn't specifically match up well into is gearframe itself. It's the general usefulness vs spread argument. Mole isn't as strong as system down vs machina but it also works in a bunch of other match ups. I wouldn't necessarily side it with machina in mind, but if it's in my side it's coming in honestly.

G3 - you 100% have to bounce that gearframe. I know it sucks, but you can't let him kill mole and you take damage.

I’ve seen him contact fuse before by setting bestiari - probably baiting a bottomless and chaining book to it

It's only decent against synchros. I'd cut it from my deck if I played gb.

It's amazing vs a lot of decks. Great against synchros, cards like amaryllis/tytannial/machina fortress. Arguably the best out to absolute zero in the format. Vayu especially since it outs armed wings without feeding into the vayu loop, but also good vs zombies, Diva hero, amaryllis, machina. I think it's underrated as a side card tbh. I don't know about it in GBs, but in other decks it slays.
