it's not just Gruberova -- all these performances are glorious! I could listen to Adrienne Pieczonka all day.. her voice is so free and opulent, and her sadness is truly beautiful and endearing.

Edita Gruberova sang her 25th anniversary performance of Zerbinetta in 1994. This performance is 8 years later, and so much of the voice is intact! This is not just a great performance for a 56 year old woman, this a great performance. I am most impressed with the repose of her body and ease of movement while singing. You can see why she lasted so long. It looks like she's doing nothing. Gruberova is like Zinka Milanov as far as vocal longevity is concerned. She's also like Zinka in singing for 5 years too long. Hell, she might be singing Lucia somewhere while I write this!
