One of my tables had actually asked me to shift the campaign to pf2e about a year ago after running dnd3.5 for a while, and my other group is currently discussing a switch from 5e to PF for a new campaign. Good. I've always thought PF to be the better game.
@kelly4187 Жыл бұрын
@TabletopTussle many other channels have had copyright lawyers on saying that it is very unlikely that WOTC can just revoke the old licence given the wording. Hell there is an even older licence (OGL1.0) that is also still in use from like AD&D days. There's no need to panic just yet... But we still should be keeping an eye on where the fire exits and lifeboats are in case it all starts to sink.
@TheRulesLawyerRPG Жыл бұрын
@@TabletopTussle My take is that the main effect WOTC intends is not its (weak) legal argument, but a chilling effect on 5e/6e support into the future. We will see if they will do the HUGE mistake of trying to shut down PF2e, which is obviously a different game (and, in court, could be proven to have innovated on 3E and 5E! do they really want that to be what a trial is about!?)

Welcome to the Pathfinder! The world of Golarion is AMAZING! It's one of the FEW that I actually WANT to play in to learn about and not just because I'm too lazy to finish enough of my own world to play in! lol They did also just release an errata, it's likely NOT printed in the books you bought as that would probably be too soon! @@TheRulesLawyerRPG KZbin updated its monetization/age restriction criteria for videos retroactively, which caused issues to multiple youtubers one major channel of them being RTGame. Their most recent video talks about the issue
@bittendonut5186 Жыл бұрын
@@TheRulesLawyerRPG In a nutshell from my somewhat hazy memory, so take it with a grain of salt: 1. you can't say any kind of profanity in the first 8 seconds of the video if you want your video monetized 2. Swear words are not categorised by severety anymore and treated equally (hell and damn are excluded from this) 3. If profanities are used throughout the video it gets demonitized 4. Any kind of drug use including inside video game gets the video demonitized 5. Same with severe violence 6. All videos must abide by the most recent guidelines (I don't think there is any grace period or notice) 7. Setting videos to private doesn't exclude them from being demonitized 8. You can get your monetization on a video back only on your first appeal, any changes to video (by that I mean fixing parts of it which weren't complicit with guidelines) after the first appeal will not result in ad revenue being reinstated even if issues were fixed (unless you reupload it) 9. You don't get reasons for your video being demonitized untill it was reviewed by a human So basically if you didn't guess what's wrong with the video on the first appeal, you can't any earn any money from it ever again unless reuploaded. I believe there were quite a few KZbinrs who were affected by it and spoke about it so finding information shouldn't be too hard, channels which I personally know were affected by it are Hutts (not that small of a KZbinr, but still rather niche in a grand scheme of things) and RTGame (much larger content creator, but also not the biggest fish in the pond).

I get that, low level you generally have only 1 or 2 unique things you can do from your class abilities or single class feat (and maybe ancestry feat), but some of them just boil down to "Strike better". The reason people have trouble with 3rd actions is because there's not much to use them on at low level. Outside of getting the enemies flat-footed or Demoralizing, you can't do much else at a high MAP. However, due to the nature of Pathfinder 2 giving you at least new 2 feats/features every level (which are also generally unique and not just upgrades to previous feats), your options quickly stack up and characters begin to feel a lot different. I would say by level 6 every character in the party should feel unique and have the complexity to have to choose what they are doing each turn, and it just gets better the higher level you go. Its not ideal that you can't have that experience starting at level 1 generally, but it does remove the common problem of players feeling less useful than other characters. Everyone has at least a few things they can do that will be equally effective at level 1, and everyone will have at least 1 unique thing they can do over other characters. Also I'd like to point out that "Attack twice then Intimidate in 1 turn" in 5e, Pathfinder, 3.5, ect is actually something that takes a few levels and specialization to get. It just feels more special because not everyone can do it, but in Pf2e everyone can do that at level 1. Insert Sydrome from the Incredibles quote here. In giving everyone more options, it removes that sense of "I have used my system knowledge to get here" that people look for in making interesting characters to play. I guess what I'm saying is its more of an issue of perception than a problem inherent to the system. But I think thats a valid feeling to have.

I think this is a valid criticism. But it's not really possible to serve two opposing masters in this case. OSR and 3.5/PF1 had a more "simulationist" approach with less concern for balance.

@@TheRulesLawyerRPG Yeah, I've been looking a lot at ICRPG recently. COMPLETELY opposite design philosophy to Pathfinder, with no focus on balance. It's so interesting to see how they both appeal to different people, and how people like their games. It's kind of impossible to make a game that serves everyone because some playstyles and game philosophies are exclusionary. Personally I like Pathfinder more, but it's all preference.

This is unwatchable with all the jumping around. I wish you would show an episode or two in the natural state so we could see if we like it. I wish you nothing but success in all things.
