A very talanted woman. Her voice, her manners, her appearance are absolutely unique which makes her a bright and memorable actress and comedian. Her 100th birthday was this year. R.I.P.

John Waters was intended to film the sequel to "Pink Flamingos", which was known as "Flamingos Forever". However, Edith Massey's death, along with Divine shifting his attention to serious male roles, nixed any chance of filming the sequel.

Oh what a lovely person, John Waters' tribute to her was very touching saying she doesn't have a mean bone in her body. You could see that from the way she loved her cats and they loved her. What a sweet soul - I'm so glad John Waters happened to discover her and make her a star. How I would have LOVED to have visited her fabulous thrift store, what fun! RIP dear lady. X

I used to drive Edie to gay bars in Hollywood in the early 80’s. She was so sweet and the boys loved her. She wore a tinsel coat. She was so much fun.

I met Edith once and we talked about her movie career. She told me that those scenes in the trailer were pure torture. she froze to death, temps. in the 20's Nicest lady to talk to. Loved her right from the start.

Love Edith. She's always my favorite character in any of John's movies I'm watching. And it's true what John (as well as others) have said about Edie, she was an absolute sweetheart. I really didn't know that she was as old as she was when she died. I just wish I could have met her before we lost her. PS. ---- John was rather sexy when he was younger! lol

By the time Waters cast Massey as a threatening character in 1977's "Desperate Living," it was simply too late. Those of us who had been weened on Maniacs and Flamingos knew the inherent, accepting goodness that was within Massey could never disguised by a mean character. Waters himself said Edie was welcoming of every type of offbeat human oddity except cruelty. I can believe it.

I saw here so many years ago! She had a smell about her, not unpleasant. Queen of her ball. Loved her. RIP! I was in high school. I had made a pilgrimage to the area. Bus and hitchhiking. It was an amazing thing. I remember fun, laughing and drinks.

Went out to see her punk rock act in Philadelphia just for kicks. That was way back in the late 70's and I've not though too much about Edith until KZbin where you can find just about anything. It's so cool to see her out of character. She's such a charming woman. Wish I had the opportunity to visit her thrift shop during time when this video was made. Anyone who is a friend to animals is a friend of mine. RIP Edith.

That counter with that great cat. I shopped there in th 80's , Edith & Jean were sweet to me, I still have the slides I shot there. Fells point became gentrified, when I went flea marketing there in the 1970's and 80's on a Sunday I can still see it, you had to step over drunk sailors passed out cold on the curb. All gone now.

We had only HEARD about Edy's Shopping Bag in the John Waters book Shock Value. NOW here it is !! Do you think people were just hanging out there all day long ? 1978 would have been the perfect time to go thrift shopping ! Everything from 1968 and 1958 would have been deemed JUNK !
