I used to manage a local music store here in Baltimore, and John Waters was a regular customer of ours. Such a down to earth, charming man. He absolutely detests when people make a fuss over him...but the more "unique" you were, the more likely you were to serve him.

The hoax is it doesn't matter because we all end up dead in the ground in the end. So, you can go around worrying about a lot of useless labels, or you can live your life and read and think and have ideas and be yourself -- and, most importantly, have some fucking fun.

John's book 'Role Models' is fabulous too. I have it on audiobook and If you enjoy authors reading their own work (and I do) listening to him read it on your ipod (or equivalent) is just divine. I can't wait until 'Carsick' comes out! P.S. Ru, I love your 'RuPaul Drives ...' series; what a great idea and the possibilities are endless.

I love John Waters! "Minorities that don't fit in with their minorities," I can identify with that when it comes to the gay community. Rue drops John off at World of Wonder where The infamous Masque punk club was in the basement, how awesome. John Waters is so much fun to listen to. He has the best stories. Rue is druving around in a classic red Volvo. I love and miss the original Volvo look. Great car to be driving in.😅

MAJOR3058 The reason why I said that is that it seems that Waters films just seem to get better and better starting with Pink Flamingos all the way up to Hairspray but then all of a sudden his films weren't anywhere near as good. The obvious change was the death of Divine. Yes, it could be said that neither Divine or Waters could have done it without the other. I guess in the end I agree with you.
