A lot of people find the way the kids on this show speak to their parents disrespectful, and sometimes it is, but I feel like we have to remember these kids are constantly humiliated and exploited by their parents on this show. When the moms are acting crazy and fighting, it’s usually the kids who are the only ones demonstrating any maturity and because of that I think there’s a weird dynamic that created role reversal.

Exactly. I work with kids around their ages (4-10 year olds) and the thing is, kids just cannot emotionally process the same way adults can. If I were constantly screaming at my coworkers and yelling at those kids over the most minute mistakes, I wouldn't be expecting my kiddos to do anything BUT cry, get stressed out and yell, too. Child psychology experiments, such as the Bobo Doll Experiment (you can look it up fairly easily) have proven that children model the behavior they see in the adults around them, even so far as mimicking violent and abusive behavior. Every time these kids are disrespectful to their mothers, it is because of their mothers and Abby's failure to be respectful themselves.

@Ashley’s animation nation I've seen the show the mom's do act up alot. Abby is a big part of it but the moms do their fair share of antics. The daughters are mostly here to dance. The mothers will literally cause issues for the kids when they are fighting with either Abby or eachother and Abby also takes it out on the kids all the adults are ridiculous. The kids love to dance but can't because their role models don't know how to act.

Abby deliberately puts these children in the position where they have to either listen to Abby or listen to their mothers, but if they pick their mothers, Abby will take their opportunities away. These kids are super young, and they're being manipulated and emotionally abused all day on this show. Most of their mothers are living vicariously through them and setting unrealistic expectations, at best. I think a lot of people saying things like "I would ALWAYS side with my mom" don't realize that 1. these kids' mothers often aren't much, either and 2. these kids are in a very difficult situation and being forced to make split second decisions with Abby yelling at and intimidating them, as well as holding so much power over their dancing. It's not as simple as "siding with" someone. These kids are trying to protect themselves and their dance careers.
