The fact I’m not the only kid who got scared by it as kids means there’s SOMETHING anxiety-inducing about it but I have no clue what lol. I was never scared of shows or anything as a kid, but what did scare me was the painting we used to have in our living room. It was my great-aunt's apparently, and it was just a normal picture of a woman in an eighteenth-century dress sitting next to a baby in a crib. But the way the baby's head made wrinkles in the pillow that, to my child mind, looked like a face, and I thought it was going to eat the baby. I used to have literal nightmares because of that painting. I'm now almost twenty-one years old, and my parents didn't know about that until we moved a few years ago. FUDGE YES!! I refused to even watch that episode because of how much it scared me. The shots of the couple turned into giant rocks were already scary enough to kid me (something about the uncanny valley), but nothing scared me like the scene where the wizard was sleeping. They had to tiptoe past the wizard with an owl and sing “la lechuza” and I swear. That scene always gave me such anxiety that now just hearing the song gives me that weird butterfly feeling. I went back and watched that clip from that episode a couple weeks ago and I’m glad I finally found someone who agrees with me. I remember having Dora figures, playsets, and tapes and DVDs at a very young age. I remember each episode showcased in this video and a few more. I also liked Blue's Clues, a much tamer and simpler show that was more suited for Autistic kids like me. My brother, also Autistic (but more severely) still watches VeggieTales to this day. We weren't an easy bunch to handle.

It's a show for toddlers, they have to be loud or else they can't understand them. It's also helpful for kids who are hard of hearing or have apd

@@kaylasilverstein4137 I don't mean yelling as in angry shouting, I mean some kids can have a hard time understanding speech on the tv, so characters usually have to speak louder and clearer. I certainly struggled to understand speech, unless the character was speaking loudly and slowly. It's really more like a 'kindergarten teacher teaching a large class' kind of volume rather than an 'angry parent yelling at their kid' kind of volume

@@drawnwithlove3499 that’s true, it’s definitely not angry shouting lol. This and Diego WERE the only kids shows to do the loud voice thing tho. In Blues Clues, Franklin, Dragon Tales etc. all the other shows I liked when I was a kid, they talked at a normal volume. In Blue’s Clues it almost seemed like they were making a POINT to talk calmly and quietly like they were having an actual conversation with you lol

@@kaylasilverstein4137 I'd counter that statement and say that Dora and Diego were not the only shows, as I watched many other kids shows on nick jr. and disney junior that did this. It's definitely a more modern thing though, and definitely in kids shows that talked down to their audience.
