I'm no expert, but I feel like non edited is popular because there is less smoke and mirrors of editing. I have seen enough of your content to say that you don't come off as disingenuous. You seem like a great person. No red flags. So YOU have the ability to pull off both ways. Some don't have that personality so they have no choice but to edit and show what they want you to see. I liked both but a few edits help with the pace.

hey thanks! appreciate the feedback, it feels more genuine if I don't edit. Less smoke and mirrors for sure

The thing is that most KZbin videos these days are so fast in their editing style that I prefer longer videos. It’s relaxing and like I’m there. I’m also tired of swiping to the next short. Your edited version shows me that you are quite good and know your moves. It’s more of a summary of the location. Little things that I liked noticing in the uncut version are not there. It really depends on the video I’m watching I suppose. I think most of all I prefer story. The uncut version, I’m along for the ride. Like we are there together. Your personality comes out and I find myself more aware to the unfolding experience. Not being told, “look here, now here… at this.” I’ve been following you since you did your first no cut video. I think I like those long videos more. But I think it’s okay to trim a bit. I say mix it up. Let the videos breath like the uncut but maybe have a Peter McKinnon type of montage to give a blast of energy in the middle. You’re pretty likable and represent a demographic (50’s)not touched all that often. It’s a good perspective. I’ve learned and been inspired by your content. Keep it up.

Totally appreciate you my friend. It's super interesting to see how this will play out, Maybe quick little montages to show the locations then long moments where I just vlog and relate to the audience... I like it!

by the way I just subbed to your channel, I can always use premiere tips for sure!
@ProfKlaus10 ай бұрын
@@jostalking I appreciate the sub! I don’t prefer Premiere to be honest. I’m a Final Cut guy when I’m vlogging. I’ve started to aim my videos at younger me. Teaching the basics I needed to know. How to do it without a crew and minimal gear. It’s much more fun and sustainable than doing only tutorials. Just watched your Banff video. Severely under viewed!

Great experiment Jo! I am intrigued by the comments as they’ve shared some interesting sentiments about enjoying the longer, engaging videos with great storytelling. I started making DIY videos to help the car community so they are always as long as they need to be to pass vital steps in the process. I actually love cinematic car videos, but many lose me these days because they share no personal interactions with people, which is where you find the stories. Thanks again for this, it has solidified the direction of my upcoming projects 👍🏽👊🏽

Totally appreciate the comment. This little experiment has also taught me that it is very very very important to get across your personality and every video it’s important to make a connection in the same way that people are programmed to start talking during the commercials on watching television, I think That when it’s all flash and no substance with the editing, it has the same effect. Peoples eyes just gloss over and they tune out.

@@jostalking i like yur edited stuff too. Tbh i think u need them both. I like the long scenes but i have no problem paying attention. Maybe u can do both. But fir something like that... I prefer the slighlty edited videos. It def makes u feel like u r in that spot

Like I said before, the non edited feels like passive watching versus the edit is more engaging and you’re giving me the best of what there is to see.

Editng wins. I think the pushback is targeting the trend of over-editing, where people edit every breath or pause while speaking and the talking head footage ends up looking jumpy.

Hey thanks for your input, I like the editing one also but super curious to see what other say, thanks for helping me out with the comment!

Is there a middle ground? My kids love channels like the Ninja Kidz where it's largely raw video with some simple cuts and once in a while some sound effect or graphic (because it's aimed at kids). Would love to see you try something that. It's low effort compared to your edited version but the pacing would be faster compared to your no-edit version.

Hmmm never thought of that. Let me check that channel out! Thanks for watching!

Hey new subscriber here!! Very interesting video, since I just started a 2nd channel where I want to put my vlogs. I find the unedited version very boring (sorry🙈). And the edited version is more easy to watch for me. But I can see why people would prefer the unedited. How would you make a way in between those?
@jostalking8 ай бұрын
Wow appreciate the sub! I think the happy medium would be if I edit footage of getting to the place. Then once I get there I just vlog with no cuts? I don’t know. I found it really so hard not to edit. You have to be super interesting and entertaining to get away with not editing.
