You have no idea how much I appreciate this video! I've returned to it a few times over the years as a reminder! If you had a 'thanks button' I'd donate as a thank you! I also use your noise removal set-up you taught a few years back. With that set-up as well as this editing technique, I can zip through what used to be a day's work in no time at all as the noise and majority of mistakes are taken care of by the time I've finished recording! Pure gold Kenny, thank you!

Thanks so much. Heads up, the interface is different now. You have to go to New Action then custom as there is now custom button right on the interface anymore. Also, there is no copy button, so you have to select the action, then DUPLICATE or command D on a mac! Your explanation was amazing, thank you so much for the help.

Reaper is as customizable as you want it to be. It's just about how much time you're willing to put into setting it up haha. Been using for a decade and STILL getting around to things that I have been meaning to do forever.

Hi, Kenny. Thanx again for another great and inspiring video. But, lately I have been paying more attention to the fantastic JS plugins that comes with Reaper. I have discovered that everything you ever need for any kind of music production is already there. Why spend a huge amount of cash on expensive plugins? I am using the (fantastic!) 1175 Compressor and the Reaxcomp on almost everything I do. You really can make some great FX chains, for later use. There are some plugins I find a bit hard to figure out, like Auto Looper and, especially Granular Loop Sampler. Any chance that you will have a go at any of them in the future? Cheers.

In my opinion, it is even more efficient if two people are recording. One person to read the text, another for Reaper.

I am new at Reaper and trying to understand if it suits me. This video and others I saw are very very clear and nice. Since I work mostly with voice over recording, what I need to understand is if with Reaper I can dub videos with voice over (and using processes like the one described in this video). THANKS! :)

How do you get big wave form results? Mine airways seem to be small compared to what I see in your demos

Seems to me this is fine if you’re recording single phrases or very short sentences. But if you’re reading long, flowing passages and hit a stumble point, blowing it all away and starting over would extend time spent recording enormously.
@skypix7775 жыл бұрын
That's a good point. I'm thinking "ctrl-g" every minute or so, like I do saving when I'm writing, might be a compromise. I'm currently learning voiceover on Reaper and have seen a modified punch and roll technique from a course on Udemy...but haven't got the hang of it yet. But it's nondestructive when it overwrites on the fly, so I may stick with that

Hi! Thank you so much for all your videos, they've been very helpful to me as to how to navigate Reaper! However, I'm having some annoying trouble using my Audio Interface/Microphone. So - I run my microphone through my audio interface, and it records on something like Audacity and when I talk to my friends, etc (I know it works) but I found the only way to use it in Reaper is to change my ASIO Configuration to USB Audio 4 CODEC, which I guess is how my computer refers to it - anyways, it records fine like that, however changing my configuration to that rather than my speakers, changes the output device to the audio interface, so I have to choose between actually being able to hear audio or being able to record with my microphone. Any suggestions as to why this is? For the record, I'm using the Behringer U-Phoria UMC22 Interface with the ASIO4ALLv2 Driver. Thanks, and keep up the good work!

Hello Kenny! Thank you for another really useful lesson! I tried the custom actions as instructed in the video and the last one you created by removing the pause action is not working as shown in the video for me. In the video, the play cursor goes back to the initial position of where the previous take started, however, mine just moves on just like the Good take action. Maybe it has to do with a certain setting in Reaper? Thank you and I will be waiting for your reply!
@Satnamtaro5 жыл бұрын
@@Charlee_Murphee Hello. I just checked again and it seems all of the custom actions are as indicated. A mystery indeed. I have a feeling that it has to do with a setting in Reaper. Otherwise, it has to work as you pointed out.

Same problem here, finally resolved. 1) Preferences > Editing Behaviour > Uncheck "Move edit cursor to end of recorded items on record stop" OR 2) Actions > Custom: Next Take > Edit Action... > Add "Item navigation: Move cursor to start of items" before "Transport: Record" 😉

Are audio files subjected to "(DELETE all recorded media)" permanently deleted, or is it more like non-destructively deleting takes? Cheers
@REAPERMania6 жыл бұрын
No. They're gone. That's why it makes more sense for voiceover as opposed to singing because it's not that big of a deal to make these choices. If it's bad, just do it again.
