I have never really seen the point of using ND filters, but this is one of the best demonstrations I have seen. I still do think it depends on what is being filmed. Slow pan of landscape, then ND are not necessary, but fast motor sports, a must.

We buy high resolution 4k cameras and talk about sharpness and clarity and then put the filter on to make it look like a 5.1mp Sony point and shoot from 2005.

It’s for filming at night mainly with different coloured lights for cool dreamy effect. In the day time it can feel too exposed and muddy sometimes.

Great video! The CPL is very handy for fishing videos or anything water or glass related. I run them on my dashcams. I'm not as big a fan of the mist filters BUT I haven't had much hands on experience with them. It might be fun to try them during the golden hour on a lake and see what they do there. Thank you very much for your time. 👍👍

One correction I think in the states we are getting a 1/4 snow mist in the freewell pack. You keep saying pro mist or black mist snow mist is white flakes in the filter were the black mist is black flakes. The snow mist is a more dreamy effect where the black mist is more of darker ominous look, both bring a hazy bloom look just different moods

I was hoping that you would have an example of the light pollution filter as you stated. I plan on using ND filters and will add a mist filter to my kit. I'm not a fan of polarizing filters for video as they have to be adjusted and the light angle has to be right to get the maximum effect.

Thank you. Ordered my OP3 in November. . . wont get here til end of January! They must be selling a massive amount. I suppose it's maybe a cheaper brand, but I'm considering the Neewer nd/cpl filters. Is Freewell a noticeably superior product, in terms of material quality and performance?
@Reviews4fun1
@Reviews4fun1 Жыл бұрын
That’s because you’re looking at the creator combo instead of the base kit. The base kit is fine. You can add a better Anker battery for $21, a better tripod for $6. Only thing I’d consider is the mic 2 but I’d just buy that later. The wide angle warps the image. You can just hold the camera farther with the tripod or selfie stick for better results.

Thanks for the video 👍🏻 you didn’t say maybe bcs you receive free filters from FREEWELL but … I own both DJI and FREEWELL Mist filters (one is a snow mist, the other one a Black mist …) and the FREEWELL one is totally unusable ! Too strong. However the DJI mist filter effect is much more light and nice. Even with their lens coating, these 2 filters don’t look the same. One is full of glitters on his glass (FREEWELL), when not at all on DJI ´s one. For the rest the ND filters are perfects and the ND/PL mainly done for water/ocean/lake films. If only to add contrast to the sky, it’s easier to add it in postprod.

I'm not an expert but setting a variable ISO will help a bit with this, as the gentleman that made the video says in another reply he "had it set to a fixed 50-200 range.". Other options are 50-400, 50-800, etc.. Loxton discusses how this helps when the sun goes down around the 11 minute mark here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGGyk6Ojp9SpetE&ab_channel=JamesLoxton

@@JosephWoodhall only negative about having this nd filter mounted is when we need to enter indoors like any station .Then i dont know higher iso or remove nd filter .
@JosephWoodhall
@JosephWoodhall 7 ай бұрын
@@allstarbury yeah, that'll be a drastic change. Hopefully the variable ISO handles it because if not it's going to look a little funny taking the filter off mid-video. A variable ND filter is another option that may help in this sort of situation, with a little practice might be able to spin the wheel to change ND without the viewer really noticing
