I actually liked these song choices more than 1 through 14! Each opening got better and better as the video went on! I will definitely have to dive into this anime!

The 3rd repeat of the original opening was the 1000th episode special where they took the original song but changed the visuals to where everyone is in their current era clothing/ship/crewmembers instead of the smaller boat and small crew.

The reason “We Are” is played 3x is because it is the official theme of the show. It is brought out for special occasions. The second time was sung by all of the Japanese voice actors, and the third time it was to celebrate episode 1000.

It is used several times but it is always different, it is the first opening, then for a filler mini arc that recalled stories from the beginning of the anime they used "We are!" again, but now sung by the voice actors (for 5 chapters), then they use "We are!" again for the 10th anniversary, but this time it is a cover made by TVXQ, and finally they use it again with the classic version of the song but with an updated animation as a special for chapter 1000. Finally: We are! For chapters 1-47 We are! (7 nin no Mugiwara Kaizoku-dan Version) For chapters 279-283 We are! (One Piece Animation, 10th Anniversary Version) For chapters 373-394 We are! (Special Chapter 1000) For Chapter 1000

Pretty sure there was also the Episode of East Blue version which had the original singer, Kitadani Hiroshi, singing with many other people, like an audience singalong and credited as Kitadani Hiroshi and Friends.

Eventually, the series stopped making endings until recently, thus allowing the openings to be longer in return, since you were curious about that. Speaking of, you'd likely enjoy the One Piece endings too.^^

So you actually picked a good halfway point because opening 15, "We Go" is the start of the timeskip. The story jumps ahead and the characters get updated designs and updated powers. "We Go" is evoking the energy of "We Are" and was made by the same artist, Hiroshi Kitadani. All my favorite openings are in this back half: Opening 15 "We Go," Opening 18 "Hard Knock Days," Opening 20 "Hope," Opening 24 "Paint," and Opening 25 "The Peak."

You are correct, One Piece openings are longer than standard. At the start, they were normal length, and had a corresponding ending playing at the end of an episode. But some time around OP 6 or 7 they stopped doing EDs, and just did longer OPs instead. Until very recently. With OP 25 (and like the last episode or two of OP 24), they switched back to normal short OP and an ED. That's a 17 year gap of no EDs, so if you ever find a playlist of them, if it seems like there's an insane jump in how they look at one point, that'd be why.

The thing that is almost impossible to understand from the outside is how it becomes a true epic in the vein of the Odyssey and Illiad, Lord of the Rings, Dune, and more. This is more than a story, it's a world unto itself, and you will quickly find yourself considering yourself one of the Strawhat Pirates. It's a story of unimaginable scope and depth, while managing to stay deeply personal. There is no story out there like One Piece

One piece opening has the most diverse music genre I've known... much fitting for the world of one piece Timeskip occur on opening 15 thats what they look different Im glad opening 14 & 20 is your favorites because it sang by the same artist.. The opening between 23 & 24 is not the official opening but a special opening for 1000th episode only, recreating the original opening...they just put it there for extra and nostalgic..

The third version of the first OP was a bonus, 1000th episode milestone tribute. For some reason, even though it is after opening 23, it doesn't count as opening 24. It's especially weird considering the second version of OP 1 was only on a few episodes, so it shouldn't have counted either. Although episode 1,000 OP was only on episode 1,000.

Definitely watch the live action, they did an amazing job! If you like that then dive into the anime or the manga it's a long journey but man is it all worth it. Oda has truly created something special that anyone can get into.

We Are is their special opening. First was the original, second sung by the cast, third different visuals using where they were at the point in the series. The last one of the three was for the 1000th episode.

I'm 2 weeks late and wrote a few comments already while watching but i just want to say you still got all 25 openings good job. 26 because your 24th was the 1000 episode special that is a nostalgic trip for fans with the return of opening 1 with the recent characters

Paint gets left out a lot in these compilations and I think it's a bummer this compilation has the short version only :( (it got shortened because new ending was added). It's my pet peeve that they use the first version of Dreaming on that has the outfit colours wrong (was later corrected) so I was going to let it slide thinking that they must be using the first versions of every opening that has chances, but the later short version of Paint just had me writing this long a** comment because it deserves better.

This was a nice set of video . Sure you guessed some things about the plot wrong , here and there , but it's nothing abnormal or outlandish , without any context . You're even one of the few i've seen so far , that managed to get ALL the proper openings , and with karaoke subtitles

The Live Action is good. Stays true to the characters and the key points of the story arcs, but the in between events were radically changed to fit the live action setting. Covered most of the first saga of One Piece. To clarify, the nearing 1,100 episode and ongoing series is split up into Sagas. Those Sagas are composed of interconnected story arcs. The Live Action covers all but the last island of the prologue to the main story, where Luffy is gathering his first crewmates and ship while prepping to enter the Grand Line, the most dangerous sea in the world where the majority of the story takes place.

I adore this series. Only joined in end of 2018 and caught up to 900 episodes in half a year. Since then i'm waiting for a new episode weekly and still loving it. You should give it a try and see if its for you! Thanks for starting at least with the openings. During the series they do spoil stuff sometimes tho so you should ask someone qhen its safe to not skip it (if you skip them every episode i guess it doesn't matter.)

The opening got longer because they got rid of the end credit songs. We don't know who the narrator is and the guy who threatened Luffy is Blackbeard (a lot of characters in One Piece are named or based after famous real life pirates, historical figures, and famous people...wait until you see Eminem lol). Dreams and will are big themes in One Piece...."Do you have the *Will* to make your *Dreams* come true?". "We are" is the main theme song for One Piece

At some point the openings got longer because they got rid of endings so it's not your imagination, they're longer than the average anime opening. Also anime opening songs are usually new singles that a production company sponsoring the show is trying to promote, it's pretty rare that they make the song just for the show.

Actually, the openings mostly show the optimistic and uplifting side of the anime, but the truth is that One Piece is does have an optimistic story progression but in a dark and tragic setting. So when you finally start watching one Piece you are gonna have a blast, but also be ready with some tissues cause you'd be balling in tears.

If you see and feel like there is a song that keeps repeated, do mind that song is actually like the mascot opening of this series which is the very first opening of this shows. People who watch One Piece from the old days until now days have special place on that song and the studios making some updated version of it through time so expect in the future they could make new version of it. The list is good except they making it into 60 fps and kinda make me feel dizzy sometimes ngl, but overall they put all the OP's in every arc. If you see something repeated in any other opening that mean something different there either it could be the scenes or the instrumental play or the singer change or the music style can be change so don't mind it

The reason the longer opening is cuz the show was catching up with the manga/comic so instead adapting 1 or 2 chapters an episode like most anime they only adapt 8-12 pages a chapters unless sowing big happen then that whole episode will be the chapter like episode1015 used the whole chapter since it was the 1000 chapter

that is not the reason. they made the openings longer because they stopped making endings, so instead of a combined 3 minutes for the opening + ending, it became 2 minutes and 30 seconds for just the opening (and then the wano openings were only 2 minutes long, returning to 1 minute 30 once they started making endings again). they also started doing this during enies lobby, long before the pacing became shit and they started adapting less than a chapter per episode.

Netflix's live action is worth watching. But the anime offers much more emotion than the Netflix series. One Piece is not only fun, it deals with many dramatic topics. We can see One Piece as a replica of our world with its good and bad sides except that it is in a pirate and fantasy universe. An adventure, I would even say a fantastic epic with more than 1000 characters who have a name, a history and a personality and are all linked to each other. You will go through a lot of positive and negative emotions. You will experience a wonderful journey with the Straw Hats. 1000 episodes is a long time, but you won't regret a single minute. On the other hand, the anime also has this flaw. Sometimes a bit of unnecessary length to save time and make more episodes, but go for it, you won't regret it.

You mentioned that you think One-piece is all Fun and Adventure etc. and yes it is but it also has some of the darkest, saddest and gut wrenching moments in all of Anime and it doesn't stand behind Attack On Titan when it comes to this in my opinion.... it has topics like slavery, people being boiled alive, complete islands annihilated or even abuse and the list goes on. It has some of the best and saddest backstorys where i just cried for hours

On the subject of length, around opening 5 or 6 the animation studio Toei, and the network one piece airs on in Japan had some sort of a falling out with the time slot where the show aired, and from that point Toei started using double length openings rather than an ending, combined with lead-ins, and "previously on" segments, it also worked in favor of their strategy to adapt as little source material as they possibly could every episode (they're legendary for turning 6 pages of manga into 24 minutes of animation), so up until the most recent opening, that was where we sat, now they recently came with a traditional length opening and ending for the first time in 17 years (yup, no kidding), so presumably the issue was solved at some point and their priorities are shifting.

Issue was solved probably due the rising popularity across the world the past few years. I know it's always been super popular in Japan where that network airs it, but when a show is the stage where One Piece is at now they can have a little more leeway I presume

Really should watch the one piece Netflix live action. It's incredible that a studio were actually able to adapt such a feel good fun and crazy story so well, perfectly casted and acted. 1st episode will give you a good idea if you wanna continue or not. Have a nice day :)
