You don't have to be hung up on catching up and just enjoy the journey leisurely when you do have time. Of course no one has to watch one piece, it won't be to some people's taste - but if it seems fun to you, give it a chance and see for yourself.

~18:00 I think the confusion here is some people label Crazy Rainbow as OP 7, and some call it OP 8, but it's not supposed to be on there twice. It makes the most sense to call it number 8, and the actual number 7 is an alternate version of We Are (the first OP) performed by the Straw Hats (the main characters of the series)

@@fox_trot0214 That would be a quite superficial view on the story. Have you actually followed the story or are you just an occational watcher? Luffy gets along with most people who are honest. He despises betrayal and dishonesty. Though the series isn't just about Luffy. Each character is unique in its own way and I love the writing how their unique properties complement each other. Luffy's rubber against Enel, Usopp against Perona, Nami's ability to steal (buggy, Wapol, enies lobby, ...). Also the overall world building and how everything is somehow related and connected. World Gov., Marine, Garp, Dragon, Luffy, Sabo, Ace. I have all episodes I think up to about 1050 on my HDD. The first 400 are in german (since I'm german), the remaining are in japanese with german subtitles. I just rewatched 1-400. In germany there was a long break after episode 400. That's when I started watching them in japanese. I do like the german dub but I have to say some scenes are more epic in japanese (even though I don't really understand jap.). I've crazy how much happens just in the first 400 episodes. They entered the grandline around EP 61 and travelled around half the world in just 320 episodes where they reached the redline again. Though the second half gets more and more serious.

Opening 3 is one of my favorites, its called Hikari-E and the official English version is badass and one of my favorite japanese to english covers. it translates well without cramming too many words into the verses so it sounds almost exactly the same only you can understand it. highly recommend you check it out.

If you haven't recorded part 2 yet I recommend watching the version from the channel neobrane that has all but the last opening, it's high quality and has CC subtitles available with the lyric translation for all of them. The last opening is also in that channel but it's in a separate video.

I would strongly disagree as it artificially smoothens frames to make it 60fps, when the original is in 24fps, so all it does is make everything seem fast, which would ruin the feel of the original animation, and can induce motion sickness due to the strange movements in some parts that were made with lower than 24 frames as a stylistic choice being suddenly bumped up to 60 frames

One Piece is my all time favorite anime. It has comedy, drama, mysteries, character development, very good back stories as well as good fights especially as you further in episodes because the animation keeps better and better. I have watched a stupid amount of one piece the past few weeks. I started last year but took a bit of a break after the alabasta saga. Now after starting it up again I'm up to fish man island at about episode 550. I never thought i would be so commited to catching up to this show when i started it, but it IS actually that good. It takes a bit to buildup at the beginning, lots of fleshing out backstories and recruiting some of the pirate crew. Alabasta arc was the first one i'd say that actually had me hooked on the show, and pretty much every arc i've seen so far after (besides thriller bark) has been fantastic. Also I'm so sad that the "share the world" song (opening 11) got muted, that one is my favorite opening.

I have to admit, despite being the lousiest literature reader, I feel like watching (actually mostly reading) One Piece, I've tapped into what makes literature (or should I say fiction) so great. It's truly a story I have difficulty imagining would ever be rivalled by any text I read in any book, ever. Combining the manga experience with the music and voices and animations of the anime makes the perfect combination that is so filled with emotions that I doubt my own imagination could ever conjure anything like it despite reading the finest literature ever. One Piece is a masterpiece in fiction, no matter what the compared medium is, and the anime has done an amazing job of truly expanding the manga created by the mastermind Eichiro Oda. Even Oda himself acknowledged the almost unfairness of the anime having access to sounds, voice acting and music.
