They better claim him back to assign him to Bakersfield. If they don’t they would be stupid. It’s a close to NHL ready player as we have in the pipeline so get him back in the mix.

Why can't they use Kane money

They can but will loose accrued cap space if they do. Doesn't make sense to do that unless they have a terrible start and have no other choice. They are 1M+ below the cap now. If they leave it that way it will turn into 4M+ in cap space by the March trade deadline. They can pick up a nice player for 4M. They will also have a better idea if Kane will be out the whole regular season. If he is I'd expect them to use the LTIR space to pick up another decent player. If they use the LTIR space now and Kane comes back during the regular season they will be over the cap and in a bad spot to get cap compliant.
