@@AndyAcostaProductionsCreating music is about knowing your instrument(s), having creativity, knowing how to express that creativity trought emotion in your music. And ton of practice, learning... Of cource you have to start somewhere. But all this teaches is not how to make your way into creating music, but shows you a "shortcut" into making shitty music that nobody will ever listen to, wasting begginers' time, while they can actually learn smth about music theory... I mean: select scale, rhythm repetitive part, bass, high notes, duplicate. It's crap. It's like saying that banana ducttaped to a wall is art (yes it's an actual "peace", yes some people see art in it...).

To be totally honest, I think this way of creating melodies has to limit your expression quite a bit. I think that regardless of what music you want to make, you should TRY to understand melody (and even more so, harmony) a little bit more consciously than this. I'm sure it'll get you melodies that work very quickly if you stay diatonic. But isn't it a bit boring-sounding? I dunno... I just feel like you can do so much more just as quickly, with more personality, with just a little modal theory. With even a foundational understanding, tricks like these aren't needed.

@@studioMYTH Same here, I've been playing guitar since I was very young and can forget just how difficult it can be. One exercise I do to keep myself in check is I try to play left-handed every now and then to remember what it's like for a beginner lol. I have no muscle memory for the fretboard in my right hand so playing even the simplest chords is extremely humbling. Helps me relate with new players better.

You know this is actually a really simple starting point. Check out Mozart (possibly the best melody writer in history) Symphony 40 in G minor. The repeated rhythm is something very easy to notice. Another point that you can learn from Mozart and apply here is to use the same intervals, but go in a different direction, or vary how you get up or down. Mozart does something like this: 1. 345 1. 345 5. 431 5. 4(2)31 Basically he uses one rhythm pattern to rise to a target note, then he comes back down from the target note to the home note using the same rhythm but changing the direct a little.

My melodies I’ve been told were pretty catchy and yet it’s so simple for me. The hard part of me making a full beat instead of the melody I’m not the best at transitions. Like this one beat I’m working on right now. I got the chorus a little fast vibe to it but the verse right after it goes to slow and it’s hard for me to tweak out the transitions.

Very cool little idea, it's funny, this visually explains part of what I've been gravitating to with melody writing for a long time. My mind always thought of it internally as some kind of relationship or moving patterns around in the scale with the same rhythm for a while. Still, inspiration is unexplainable and why certain rhythms or variations work better than others. Nonetheless, this is a very cool little video to help you start to get the idea of how Pop singers often write melodies - whether they fully realize this is what they are doing or not. P.S. I really want to move that Countermelody around, tho! Ahahahah

I use Logic, but it should be the same method in GarageBand. I pull up my piano roll and write a MIDI for every single note in an octave. On the left hand side of the piano roll there is the quantize button you may be familiar with. There should be a drop down menu right next to this button where you can choose the key signature and scale you want to quantize. Hope this helps ✌️

This is not how you make a catchy melody in metal or punk. For metal you take any power chord, one a whole step up or down, and one half a step away from the previous one. And for punk, three random power chords and play each eight sixteenth notes, and go crazy at an absurd tempo.
