Fun fact: Deadmau5 actually had a song called "I Forget", which reminisces of "I remember" in terms of chord progression, but has a completely different mood.

You can route the reference track as a sidechain signal into SPAN in order to overlay both spectrums on top of each other for easier monitoring

Finally, electronic music from a period when electronic music was actually good! 😂 Yes, I am a snob with a purpose! I had watched a few recent documentaries on Norman and that’s exactly how he STILL writes music: he browses record stores on Brighton for funk records for samples. His comment was that he’s looking for something that wasn’t too popular in its time, something esoteric, and then make that into an amazing track! That’s his routine.

Sounds ok actually. Now take out that dirty "EDM Tips" label and change it to "Trance Tips". EDM is terrible, trance is love! And get some clear quality sounds as well. I recommend FL Studio with Spire and Avenger. Good luck anyway!

I usually don't watch many interviews but I found this really interesting, Having had a bit of success with some labels myself and quite a few knockbacks it is interesting to hear what the A&R people do and look for.

Diversion was a big name within Enhanced / Colorize who i really loved the stuff of! A label i´ve always wanted to release on tbh. Being a hitter an Daniel Kandi´s AA label, its always nice to do something else more deeper being a trance producer myself! I love these videos Will btw!

I would make the suggestion to demonstrate the fixings in the vocal (e.g., de-esser, autotune, etc.) by the use of built-in plugins and not external plugins not available to anyone. Anyway, helpful video!

When writing melodies, you need to break your melody into lines. The most important notes of any melody line are the last one, and the first one, they define the line. Like if your travel from city A to city B, you can take many different routes, but it is still the same result, The ending note is the MOST important, it will determine whether the line feels resolved or unresolved. Theme and variation is important, a line that ends on the 5th can seem unresolved, then a similar line that resolves to the root resolves. This gives the listener a handle to process the melody but without just boring repitition. Ending a melody line on one of the underlying chord tones is a strong technique. I hate restricting yourself to a scale, some of the most colorful melodies and chord progressions do not stay within scales. Clapton was the master at switching between Major and Minor scales in the middle of a melody line instance. Chromatic runs is also a very useful technique you lose if you restrict yourself to a scale.
