I have found the path of least resistance for getting a solid groove is using "a bit of random" ableton velocity midi effect preset on midi for drum elements to humanize the midi; or using preprocessed wet samples from PML that have the humanization baked in for the top and perc loops. Deep premium's is a great sample pack for that purpose. Also Morph 2 by Zynaptic is a very underutilized vst for Melodic Techno

Amen brother! Walked through several your lessons from chords/melody/beats making till track breakdowns for specific genres like this. Everyone was easy to grasp and helps me improving my skills from real zero to something I can show my friends with no shame. Thank you so much. Also great to see you having so much joy hitting the right sound/melody, this makes such lessons even more inspiring. However every time I beg you not to add/use so many tracks for sake of miserable) amateur producers who didn't find an excuse to spend $100 or more for Ableton Intro or next.

Argh, screw it) I just bought Standard. Weird thing is price - retailers offer significantly cheaper than Ableton site itself. I heard limitations may help creativity but yeah it will work on a next stage when I'll have enough experience to not make silly mistakes. As for now - god bless EQ Eight.. they definitely know what not to include into limited versions to force users spend money)

Hi Will, Great content as usual, thanks. Can you do a video about using Splice vocals. Whether you should use them and release tunes with them? How do you know how many other tunes have the same vocal sample? Or should they just be thought of as place holders before writing and recording your own with an artist. Cheers
@EDMTips9 ай бұрын
Ah, this topic has been covered so many times I don't know if there is anything I can add. Ideally, you want to get professional vocals, of course. Failing that, don't stop your process and just use them. I've heard tracks released on major labels and they used Splice vocals, so it's not a 100% no.

Random side question. I'm a photo editor. I appreciate the difference of the layer ordering. What's on top Will block what's behind it. Does the order of layers matter in music? Is there any priority given to the sound on the top layer? Set my initial guess is that at all happens at the same time so it really isn't effected by the order of layering but I could be wrong.
