Ask yourself this question…
WHAT DO PEOPLE THINK OF WHEN THEY THINK OF YOU?
Like it or not, that answer is your PERSONAL BRAND.
The rules have changed, and it's no longer an option not to have a personal brand.
More than ever, your BUSINESS BRAND and your PERSONAL BRAND are becoming the same. With the explosion of options on how to promote yourself and your business, you need to be SMARTER THAN EVER to get the attention you need to succeed.
If you're success-driven, chances are you've already figured out that you need to grow your brand and use it for maximum effect.
THE BIG QUESTION IS "HOW?"
My guest and friend, RORY VADEN, will give you those answers this week.
He is also a New York Times bestselling author of TAKE THE STAIRS and PROCRASTINATE ON PURPOSE, a Hall of Fame speaker, and co-founder of the BRAND BUILDERS GROUP, where he and his team teach and implement personal brand development. He's helped several people, including me, LEWIS HOWES, ERIC THOMAS, TOM AND LISA BILYEU, LUVVIE AJAYI JONES, and many others take huge leaps forward with building our personal brands.
Some of you may not fully understand personal branding, and that's where we start, digging into why TRUST is closely linked to personal branding, no matter how big you are or how big you want to be.
Rory also explains how to start personal branding with practical advice you can easily implement almost immediately built around this KEY TAKEAWAY…
THE GOAL IS TO FIND YOUR UNIQUENESS AND EXPLOIT IT IN THE SERVICE OF OTHERS.
Many of you want to find ways to monetize your personal brand, and Rory gives you some insights using his D.A.R.E.S. (Digital, Automated, Recurring, Evergreen, Scalable) strategy.
Rory will also explain what a BRAND DNA HELIX is with 6 QUESTIONS every brand builder should ask themselves.
One of the most important keys to a personal brand is figuring out how you can monetize it. Rory lays out those avenues by getting you to think about P.A.I.D.S. (Products, Ads and Affiliates, Information, Deals, and Services).
We'll also spend a lot of time discussing how to find your UNIQUENESS. Nobody talks about this enough, yet it's so critical to your personal branding success.
We'll wrap up by talking about the three forms of PROCRASTINATION, multiplying your time, and why our brains aren't wired for success.
You owe it to yourself to start THINKING about and ACTIVATING your personal brand.

Great Episode Ed, I'd love to see more with Rory! Brand DNA Helix - Finding My Uniqueness What problem do I solve? What am I passionate about? What do I research? What do I have results in? What are all the things people would buy from me? What business do I want to be in? Finding My Passion What fires me up? What pisses me off? What breaks my heart? What makes me cry? What am I not ok with in the world? What wont I accept? What is the problem I have the solution to? Reputation Self Awareness Questions When people see me; What do I project? What do I believe? What am I about? What am I teaching? What am I promoting? Who am I? Finding Purpose Who can I serve? How can I be of value? What problem do I solve? Finding the Problem by serving the person I once was; What challenge have I conquered? What obstacle have I overcome? What set back have I survived? Breaking through Sheehans Wall What can I do better than anyone else in the world?

I listened the entire hour and at 1:04.45 - burst into tears - THIS was the message I needed to hear! I've never heard this before, never thought of my desire, my calling, my knowing, my message, - as something someone else is needing right now & that is why I feel so strongly pulled towards sharing it. I can't thank you enough for saying what I needed to hear to validate what I have known for so long.

Wow, wow, wow! I just listened to half of this and absolutely MUST relisten and take notes! There are so many pearls of wisdom in this interview! Personal branding=the digitization of reputation. A personal brand is so important because it is a TRUST accelerator. Reputation always proceeds revenue. "If you have diluted focus you have diluted results." The goal is to find your uniqueness. What problem do I solve? Who can I serve? How can I be of value? Brand helix: 6 questions to answer that the intersection of them is your uniqueness. "You make a living from the problem you solve but you make a life from the passion you chase." "What pisses you off, what are you not ok with in the world, that is God's divine design for your humanity. What breaks your heart breaks your heart for a reason because you were created to do something about that problem. Real magic will come from living in your passion but you need to earn your right to get there first." "All of us are most powerfully positioned to serve the person we once were!" "Your uniqueness is at the intersection of who you have been and who you are called to be." "The goal is to find your uniqueness and exploit it in the service of others." SHEAHAN'S WALL-one of the best analogies/metaphors I've ever heard! WOW!!! Thank you so much Rory for sharing from your genius and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Thank you so much Ed for all you do for the world! This was an outstanding interview which will definitely change my life! #MAXOUT from Israel

@@EdMylettShow Yes! Today I am relistening to the entire episode and taking notes. I think this will change my life! SHEAHAN'S WALL is by far one of the best analogies I've ever heard! Three different kinds of procrastination, how long is this going to matter. "You multiply time by spending time on things today that create more time tomorrow"-absolutely ingenius! ROTI-return on time invested. "Automation is to your time exactly what compounding interest is to your money." WOW!!! Thanks so much Ed and Rory!

This has to be the ultimate perfect business/life video for me. 7 years ago I started developing an automotive invention to not only improve gas mileage, but also horsepower and torque. It was something I was highly obsessed with for a while knowing that down the road it was going to be a lucrative million/billion dollar invention. I did that so that I would have the finances available to me to do what I REALLY am gifted at and have wanted to do since I was a teenager, which is make all kinds of videos/movies but mostly music videos. Not like the ones you see today, ones that perfectly illustrate the theme and feel of a song, and not pop music. I can't stand rap, hip hop, rock, all the usual suspects people think of when I say music videos. And then ... in that process, I came up with a 10 part action music video series that centers around my invention. I have it copyrighted.

Very interesting topic -it’s like this interview was God’s answer to my mental battle with setting up social media for my business and a mentorship program for my industry. My heart was emptied and literally everything good and especially what felt bad were all for this time. Not one tear wasted. I still remember sitting at Panera Bread parking lot In Newport Beach in 2010 asking God if He forgot to bring me a career. I promised Him if he brought me a career I would share all He teaches me to help others who are in a situation like I was in. I’m sitting here shaking my head in awe at the timing of this video in total shock at the answer. Btw. Your book is great, I’m almost finished reading it. Have to wonder if you are an INFJ. the depth of your thoughts, seem similar to INFJ. 🙏 many blessings to you.

"You make a living from the problem you solve, but you make a life from the passion you chase." I needed this! I've struggled to clarify what I do because the problem I solve looks different from my passion. I help women find freedom from their anxiety, but my passion is to change the mental health narrative. I'm a licensed therapist in an all male prison, and I see where our system is failing people. It "pisses me off" and "breaks my heart" that traumatized children grow up to be incarcerated adults who are medicated for mental health symptoms. The prisons are full of adults who grew up in shitty environments and are not being medicated for mental health reasons. Our current mental health narrative says that mental illness is due to a chemical imbalance. False. As Rory says, I'm not okay with this. I just struggle to know how to balance the problem I solve and my passion.

*This message came at the perfect time* and I took plenty of notes, which I see have already been dropped in the comments. Despite the copious notes I took, I will leave what resonated most with me here. “When I am serving, I can not lose.” Thank you 🙏

OMG, thank you. That was powerful. I am going to watch that several more times to today and continue referring back to it. Social media has been a huge struggle for me. This was so valuable and inspiring on SO many levels. I think I am called to help/coach people through Prepping evidence for Mental Health Health Conservatorship process for their Loved Ones with severe mental illness and provide support & hacks for dealing with their Loved One without losing themselves in the process. I have been procrastinating (because it's draining ) but I keep be called up to help families struggling with it. And yes, I went through the process for Someone I love. So much ai do not know. But I can empower the families with what i do know. I just do not know how to present it, word it, to let people know that this is something that is offered. See even here I am tongue tied. I also have a host of passions though I do Love to facilitate workshops. Have not done it in a few years. Gotta start somewhere right?!

@@EdMylettShow I am a little awestruck that you haveq responded. 😊 Thank you. 🙏 Well first, I was just taking in the branding information. Things I wish I had known years ago. Things I think should be taught before ever being allowed to post on social media. But I digress. The point of not asking what your purpose is but to be of service and how to do that in a way that is unique to ourselves. I have so many things I want to do, and passionate about ( they all fit under one main umbrella but in very different ways that I am not sure what to focus on. Your videos/ podcasts help, by a lot. At least I do not feel as though I am flailing in the deep end of the ocean unable to swim, anymore. I picked a road. Not sure it was the right road at this time but right or wrong, there is focused movement. And the things I am most passionate about is bringing out the best version of individuals through encouragement, self examination, and healing what holds us in suspension. And to that, the other take away is our superpower is we tend to offer a solution to ...oh how did you put it, healing of our past self. Lack of brings a necessity for answers/healing. And I think that is why I hadn't pursued the easier route (easier than what I am currently doing) because I am still working through or just barely out of a tight healing spot and I have been lacking the confidence to pursue it full steam ahead. Can't sell it if I'm still crawling out of it. I AM SO DONE with old me and putting up with complaining be it mine own or someone else's and if you ain't move forward at least step aside and stop trying to me, is my new attitude. I have a beautiful happy fulfilled Life waiting on me. No time for petty monsters or drama trains. I AM so determined I cannot even sleep an entire night. I am up late working/stacking my blocks and up at ridiculous hours of the morning itching to get more done. Not even worrying about the obstacles. Nose to the grindstone, fingers weeding htv to the bone, Thirsty to move into my new Life, new me, own home. I don't care that I don't fit in. I don't care that I have less than a handful of friends. I care that ai make good on the Gifts God gave me, and terrified He'll give them to someone else if I don't multiply them, or my clock will run out before I can make good on ALL of them. Not some not one. ALL OF THEM! And listening to you my friend, ED MYLETTE has helped me to stop wasting time while trying figure out what of the many things I should do first or focus on more. I chose one and running with scissors. I do not know if you understand what you gave me by doing what you do. 🙏 I AM SO VERY GRATEFUL FOR KZbin AND FOR FINDING YOU!

Rory Vaden’s Take the stairs was the first non fiction book I ever read, around that same time I was dabbling around finance KZbin videos and Grant Cardone popped up. I thought he was kinda entertaining so I watched 1 or 2 of his videos. That led KZbin to recommend Ed Mylett. I’ve been watching ever since and now my husband does as well. And now you’re working together… amazing because you both had a role in motivating me to personal growth.

What a dynamic back and forth interview. Thank you Rory for your candidness and clarity on how to find our uniqueness. And thank you Ed for your good questions. Not sure if you know that that last part of the interview you were speaking biblically. Jumping into something not knowing everything. That’s faith. Thank you both

This is a great video. I especially resonated with the part about how we trust people that we see regularly and know details about their lives. Something to think about for sure, since I don't share my personal side in my videos, etc. I've been trying to figure out how to work that in so that I can connect with teachers/parents, even though my videos are directed at students.
