TO be fair... the GOT show toned down the magic aspects a lot, so viewers kinda forget that it's a fantasy story sometimes. It's like they were afraid of using colours and they kept cutting out cool magical elementsfrom the story like the glass candles, glamours and of course the dragons/wolfs (budget reasons).

Have you ever fought two people at the same time, barristan took on 7 in his probably 70’s and killed almost everyone of them…his death was no slight to his swordsmanship. Also if you remember the way they took out syrio forel who was the greatest swordsman before his passing at least they didn’t let mirrian trant and a handful of gold cloaks take him out off camera

I got a chance to meet the actor who meets Sir Barriston at a con. Such as a sweet guy. We talked about the show and the books. He said he was disappointed that his character died like that considering he is still alive in the books. He wanted to explore more since Barriston is the closet thing to a dad figure Dany had 😢

Jaime's reaction to what happened is kind of understandable, given that in his mind neither his father or brother had to die as long as Tyrion just left quietly. But at the same time, Tywin did already sentence Tyrion to death, so it's kind of unfair to judge Tyrion for doing that. Even without knowing of the Shae factor.

I believe Shae was being spiteful. I think Tywin pulled up on her after Cercei pointed out Shae to him at the banquet, and Shae saw an opportunity to simultaneously survive assassination by the Lannisters and hurt Tyrion.

Ser Barristan's death was so infuriating to watch... he holds a much larger role in the books, and his character arc is one of the best written one's. he's not even dead, either - but unfortunately, he quarreled with the show-runners for diverting so far from his/Dany's plotline(s) and characterizations, and they didn't like that, so they killed his character off in the most nonsensical way. one of the greatest, most esteemed fighters in all of the known world, by the way. killed by three men in an alleyway. It's so stupid

I think Shae got in where she fit in. After Tyrion was arrested she needed a new survival lane. And/or she was probably approached by Tywin/Cersei and threatened if she didn’t comply. But I don’t see anything pointing to her being with Tywin on Tyrion’s clock.

GRRM writes about internal conflict, and it's much more dramatic to have the characters hurting someone that they actually care or cared for at some point. Besides, Tyrion met Bronn by pure accident in the Riverlands,Bronn was spontaneously recruited at the Crossroads Inn by Caitlyn, making it VERY unlikely he was an agent working for Tywin Lannister hahaha

I can't remember if it was around this time but Ser Baristan had to be a granda in Derry Girls (an Ireland/UK Channel 4 sitcom) so maybe he had to mosy on out of Belfast (this was made in Belfast's Titanic Qtr, which was put on the map as a good recording studio by GOT). Here’s how I think it went down with Tywin and Shae. Cersei points out Shae to Tywin at the lunch. Tywin tells Cersei to have Shae brought to his tower. Tywin tells Shae he will pay her X amount to be with him and to also testify against Tyrion in the trial. She does it because of spite.
