Jaqen tells Arya she took a life that was not hers to take. I've always felt that applied to Stannis too, with his killing of Shireen. This is "Mother's Mercy", and the Mother is the protectress of children like Shireen. Did Stannis offend The Mother? It is a woman who ultimately confronts him to deal out vengeance after all.

The Stannis and the Jon death scenes are are both done well- in terms of the way the scenes played out and how the actors portrayed their characters. I felt that Stephen Dillane really conveyed a sense of accountability and Justice in his being executed by Brienne. He knows it’s the right thing for all the wrongs he’s done. The actor showed that so well, in body face and voice. Jon with Ollie - that was heartbreaking. Both Kit and the young actor showed their emotions well. Jon just crushed to find out Ollie had so much contempt for him- yet so much sorrow he felt for the young boy - all the darkness in that young man’s heart - he saw it in that moment. Really so sad

Stephen’s acting was why they cut this dialogue out of that scene, they felt it wasn’t needed BRIENNE: “Do you have any last words?” Stannis considers. STANNIS: “Do you believe in the life to come?” Brienne nods. STANNIS: “I don’t. But if I’m wrong, and you’re right… tell Renly I’m sorry when you get there. I don’t imagine I’ll see him wherever I’m going. (beat) And my daughter. Tell her… tell her…” “Sorry” doesn’t begin to cover what he feels about Shireen. The thought of it brings tears to his eyes, and he’s not going to die weeping in front of a woman he doesn’t know. Stannis stares up at her. STANNIS: “Go on. Do your duty.”

Most likely because I'm a woman but also because this punishment is only for adultery. For cheating on a husband that had 20 bastards. If she was being punished for all of her crimes, I probably would feel differently. But that punishment for that 1 crime is unworthy.

There was never going to be a comeuppance big enough for what Stannis did. Never. Not only is being burned alive a horribly painful way to die but he stood there and watched her scream. She knew as it was happening that her father was the one who ordered it, that he could also stop it, and he watched and ignored her screams for him. Right where she could see him no less. Your parents are supposed to protect you, love you, take care of you, save you from bad things... And he just stood there. She was so sweet and loved him so much... His punishment will never be big enough.

And season 5 ramps up beautifully too. First the battle at Hard Home pretty much shows that the living don't have a snowballs chance in hell against them. Then they kill of one the most innocent people in pretty much all of Westeros and to top it all off Jon is ganked by his Nightwatch mates... Things are going so well. In all of this, there is one thing that is very easy to miss... The fact that Bran is not shown at all during season 5. He is just missing. And Gendry has been rowing that boat for quite a while too...
