Can be brief like this. China’s politician Deng Xiao Ping want to teach VNC a lesson, VNC main battle army is on their way to kick Polpot ass since they cross the border, invade 6 VN province and killing more than 30.000 of VN innocent people, Polpot Iengsary genocide is fact used to be communism who fought side by side with VNC but after 1975 when American left South VN, Polpot Iengsary started to leave VNC for CCP. They learned the Communism way from CCP by CCP model concentration camp and force labour which lead to 2.2 million Cambodians die. Thats will be not a big deal since we all communist by that time (VNC,CCP, Polpot genocide), Polpot have the right to do what ever he and his genocide want as long as inside his country (UN not allow other country to interfere other country inside matter) but Polpot try to invade VN. Since Polpot is backed by CCP at that time then Ping decided to “teach VN a lesson”. He start a war of 60 division (roughly 600000 mans) all across VN border and China border claim that “breakfast at Lang Son, Lunch at Ha Noi, dinner at Saigon” which indicate that China will take VN in one day. But fact that after 14 day they only move 0.9km per day. When VNC start to take things seriously and move the main battle forces from Cambodia to North VN (thankfully we have our trustful Soviet Union that time provide us air-transportation) Ping claim that he win the war and achives war course then retreat all his forces. But it took 13 days after Ping announcement for PLA to fully out of VN land. The war is also to test Soviet reaction if VNC is under attack, thankfully SVU is still huge that time and they deploy about 1 millions troop to the Far East apply lots of pressure on CCP that time. According to expert SVU is willing to attack if CCP commited full invasion on VN. That summerized the conflict

One thing which seems conspicuous by its absence are ERA panel covered skirts covering the hull sides and top half of the tracks. The upgrading of the fire-control and sighting systems would be the most important of what the VPA has done, I would hazard a guess that they've figured that sustaining a single hit from a modern Russian or Chinese tank would at least be a mission-kill and there are limits as to what appliqué ERA panels can help protect from with plain RHA (not composite, like would show up with the T-62) backing it up.

I have been watching MasterMilo's refurbishment of a Type 69. One of the notable difficulties he has faced is excessive engine smoke. Similar amounts of smoke appearing at 2:26 here, perhaps this is a feature and not a bug.

it is a Diesel engine, used a manual timed fuel injector. It is a bug as well as a feature as all of the tank has a function to produce the smoke cover by inject more fuel into the engine to produce the thick smoke screen. on the Soviet tank like T-54, it can produce 15 minutes of Diesel smoke before your engine go toast and everyone has a shitty day to maintain after it. But yes, all of the Diesel engine tanks will smoke when they rev high so saddle due to the fuel is not burn fast enough (diesel is more dense than gasoline), this is even worse in a cold climate as diesel harder to ignite at that time. this is Challenger smoke, as you can see even when its engine idle, it still produces white smoke, and when it turns on the smoke generator, as you can see the smoke thicker as it rev this can say it is a diesel engine bug and a feature as well. /watch?v=goLNmcmYcA0

@Bruh Moment They DID integrate new armor into the hull, and the gun is good enough to cope with most foes it will face. It says so in the video. Also, that 100mm gun can penetrate the rear and sides of most modern tanks and easily destroy anything other than another main battle tank. Again, it's mentioned these tanks will be used to support the T90s which will eventually make up the vanguard of Vietnam's tank fleet, and not face frontline Chinese units. Keep in mind Vietnam's focus is on defending against Chinese aggression, for which these modernized tanks are aptly suited. Lastly, ANY tank facing down infantry that are out of anti-tank weaponry is a formidable foe (the Germans discovered this when overrun by hordes of Soviet tanks), so even these old modernized vehicles have a purpose in Vietnam's doctrine. They are very much the AK-47 of tanks in my mind.
@Ypog_UA3 жыл бұрын
@Bruh Moment It can, just depending on the situation. A cheap tank anyone can get means that in small conflicts, the side with just a handful of outdated tanks will have a huge advantage over the side that doesn't. @NoName-sb9tp3 жыл бұрын
Judging from the potential enemy of Vietnam in the area, the upgraded T-54/55 is an okay choice for the time being because of the budget constrain. As more modern mbt like the T-90S/SK (and potentially T-72B3M) goes in the front lines, the T-54/55 will mostly be relegated to the rear and reserve, then retired.

Even T-34/85 is no longer "cheap" it costs more then T-55 (!) Su-100 / Su-76 or even M-48 are all more then a T-55. The tanks in storage are worth more then the tanks that are newer and about to replace them. Part of the high resale value of this historical collection is excellent condition. Where else would you find a battle ready Su-100? You can try North Korea but I doubt they are selling or even capable with sanctions of a sale. Also US stuff - cannot get that from NK (they do not have enough themselves). Where can you get for example early M48? Granted M48 is equivalent to T-55 but there are far more T-55 so value of M48 is higher then that of T-55. Too bad Vietnam did not fight the Germans, Panzer IV in mint condition is up to 3 million USD. Famous Tiger - if one was for sale (British will not budge) would easily go over 10m - more then a brand new Abrams. T-34/85 should sell for about 25% more than a nice T-55 - or at least 150,000 USD.
