If a politician defects from the vehicle he used to attain power (political party), he losses his seat except if such politician occupies an executive office covered by immunity Remember, the constitution is the grund norm of the land. APC is spinning and redefining words as in the case of Abuja as an FCT AND NOT A STATE. In the case of Martin's Amewule, defection was done in front of the world. Therefore, their seat should be declared vacant as the constitution stipulated In Edo state, it is about illiteracy and brigandage. These are not spelt out out in the 1999 constitution. When you have an illiterate governor, who is being controlled by God father have say and can not reason by himself. Here in US, you have counties, which are equivalent to local government in Nigeria. They control and manage their finances. Here in Edo State, you have half baked potatoes lawyers who claimed they are constitution lawyers, who do not understand superceded in a common English language, are given the governor wrong interpretation of the law.

The supreme Court does not make laws. The supreme Court only interpret laws. The judgement of the supreme Court does not invalidate the already existing laws. The joint account between the LGA and the state as enshrined in the federal constitution has not been expunged. State houses of assembly are empowered by law to make laws for the existence and running of the state, including financial oversight. Am not aware that the state government requested a dime from the council chairmen, he only requested their balance sheet. Note also that the LGA does not have the same status as the state. The governor wanted their loyalty but the chairmen were wrongly counseled otherwise, these problems would not have arisen. No matter how water hot, the water must cool down. May peace reign in our LGA's
