Edo, just wanted to say that I love the video because when I listen to the original song and it's about to end, the outro has a fade out with a guitar solo that it's way too short!!! I always wished Eno & Lanois faded the song out much much later. So you playing that part fills the gap (The same thing happens to me when I listen to the Beach Boys' "Please Let Me Wonder"). I feel so lucky I came across your tutorial. You really nailed The Edge's Infinite Guitar sound. Thank you, thank you very very much for playing and uploading your lesson.

@Amino Gaming On the album version... sort of, yet no. He used a guitar called the Infinite Guitar, which allows infinite sustain of a note when you fret a note. Live... if for some reason he doesn't have his infinite guitar, yeah he would use an e-bow

I'm considering the Fender Ed o' Brien Strat or something like a Fernandes Retro Rocket which has the same Fernandes Sustainer as the Fender? Not many available here in Germany though. this is a fernandes decade I sold a couple years ago. The eob Strat has the current sustainer driver (this guitar still had the old one), but it has a different bridge pickup which does not work as good for sustainer parts - that's my 2c

I think edge had the "elite" version, this is the cheaper one. I have no idea what year it is, I bought it second hand about 10 years ago or so. Last year I assembled a Strat with some parts and installed the sustainer, so I've been using that one live, this one's been sitting home since then

Nice small goood guitar company, and no matter how much I love The Edge (and I do), I still think it sucked greatly that he hided their brand decal on the headstock when he used the Fernandes Retrorocket for With Or Without You or Ultraviolet in 2017...

Actually I kind of retired this one last year after building a part caster with built in sustainer, so I've been using that one live. This one is ok with the sustainer, but it sounds quite terrible in normal operation! :)

That's because when you engage the sustainer (via mini toggle), it automatically switches to the bridge pickup, no matter where the selector is. And yes, delay is pre amp of course

No, that's the Fernandes sustainer, it's a permanent mod you have to make to a guitar that lets you sustain strings like an ebow.
