Lots of questions/thoughts for TCQs' (my abbreviation for this channel) budget brewer extraordinaire! You probably couldn't respond to all of it, but if you read it and it is in any way helpful then my unsolicited work will have been worth it. How long do you anticipate being able to create fresh decks consistently? Do your future plans include revisiting decklists after new sets release? Alternatively, do you intend to let the commander-excluded price lists start to increase in proportion as the number of potent budget commanders declines? As a third option, are you considering revisiting commanders you have already covered to brew with a fresh strategy? I'm trying to understand where this channel is headed as sadly there is not an unlimited pool of budget commanders to work from indefinitely. Of course, non-list content regarding the various theories used in the budget deckbuilding process would always be welcome as well, and my apologies if I have missed it but has there been much call for gameplay content as well? Much more difficult to produce, certainly, but if nothing else I would love to see Mitch have a chance to join in on a Game Knights (see channel The Command Zone) bringing a spicy budget brew to the table. If it were gameplay content on TCQ, then I would love to see budget vs budget content as well as budget vs average EDHREC budget etc. (and the utility of EDHREC in budget brewing could be its own video.) Again, gameplay videos are far more difficult and complex so putting those firmly back on the back burner, other unsolicited ideas of mine for TCQ content include comparison videos going into greater depth about the differences between what more expensive decks with X commander are running and how the budget version either emulates or circumvents those elements. Another consideration would be video(s) outlining your process of deckbuilding in practical terms; how do you netdeck/which online resources do you value, is there a visual deck builder you favor (I prefer ManaStack), or do you bother to proxy such budget builds? Or whether it would even be worth proxying at all for such a low budget (I would guess not). That brings a natural followup discussion about how things are different for the budget brewer sitting on a large card collection vs the budget brewer who is starting from scratch. Jumbo Commander may already provide guides regarding when to pick up cards cheaply, but your viewpoints on when to buy or list videos regarding specific selections could be convenient additions to the channel. Do you have experience in actually trading cards, and if so would covering how to trade the jank you have for the budget playable you need be worth considering (not to mention that the idea of trading one expensive card - looking at you Assasin's Trophy - for an entire deck is appealing). Next, there is always the possibility of covering the best budget options for card storage and protection (sleeves) - TCCs Professor may have product reviews covered, and some great tips, but it is hard to justify A+ sleeves and A+ deck boxes for around $25 for a $25 deck (in fact, this issue is precisely why I have trouble pulling the trigger and building more of your lists). This is a lot of questions, so many thanks if you did decide to tackle them, and if any of my thoughts have been useful then like I said that's a bonus as well. Keep up the good work regardless, I'm sure I'll follow whatever content TCQ provides going forward.

I have a very competitive Edric deck, and I wanted to add a couple of reasonable upgrades that I feel should of been listed. 1. Notorious Throng, most powerful card in an Edric deck by far specifically for all the rogues. 2. Rewind and counterspell. Edric gives card advantage and having a counter for elesh noorn or a board wipe is useful. 3. Growing rites of itlmoc. Gaea's cradle on a budget. 4. Curse of predation. Counters applied before damage. I don't think any of these cards are expensive.

I'm curious to know, what's your process in building decks like this? Whenever I try building decks, I end up jamming in too many cards that I wanna play but then I don't pay enough attention to the necessities (removal, boardwipes, manabase, etc.). How many cards should I put into a deck that fulfill a certain role? I know it differs from deck to deck; Voltron decks need protection, offense, and such, creature decks need lots of creatures. But when do I know that enough cards is enough?
@TheCommandersQuarters6 жыл бұрын

Hey was wondering if you’d ever do something like a quality of life upgrade. I love the reasonable upgrades I think they’re great but in all honesty it feels more like reasonable additions. I think of reasonable upgrades as being more of hey maybe make your ramp package better or this is a better version of that. Maybe even a slightly more expensive mana base including scry lands and what not. Anyways love the content and have used your Phelddagrif and Trostani videos as a starting point for the decks I’ve built. Also just bought a signed mat. Thanks so much for the work you do.
@TheCommandersQuarters6 жыл бұрын
First of all thank you for your support and your comment! In terms of your take on reasonable upgrades, outside of lands there really won't consistently be a better version of certain cards. Also, while I agree the mana base is very important for most decks, that is a little easier to find better cards for rather than non-land cards.
@hipeepstake126 жыл бұрын
The Commander's Quarters maybe make a video called reasonable upgrades. Something along the lines of hey these are some okay budget mana rocks or these are some good lands. Also maybe just have specific ones for decks. The best example I can think of is in Phelddagrif where you could replace a ramp spell with chromatic lantern to add even more potential value with the ability. And I’d like to echo what I’ve said before in previous comments that I really enjoy that you come down here in the comments to discuss this stuff with us. P.S. just thought of this as I was finishing the comment but am on a phone so slotting in is difficult. What if every couple of vids you looked back and said hey guys these are some specific ramp cards or mana rocks that maybe didn’t fit in the budget but are synergistic with them. You could do card draw, ramp, mana rocks ect.

Do any of these two decks pair particularly well against each other?
@TheCommandersQuarters6 жыл бұрын
Plenty of them work well against each other! I would say the only one that is too powerful compared to the rest is Jhoira

I built this but I had triumph of the hordes on hand already so I swapped out a card for it. I ended up winning on turn 6 with infect damage. the mixture between card advantage and straight-up aggro is just disgusting.

Hi Mitch, would it be possible for you to make a EDH budget Burn deck using Wort, The Raid Mother as the commander please?
@jamamanoffortune69106 жыл бұрын
Hey man, long time fan here, could you make a Toshiro umezawa deck, monoB instant value.?His win con is quite easy with exsanguinate or torment hellfire, overall they're quuite cheap cards with interesting control game play. But i was thinking about building him aside this 30 instants in the deck, the other part kinda of focusing on inffect, so merging a llitle bit to a voltron build, allowing umezawa for a alt win con, he has the oathkeeper to stay alive, instants that give inffect, artifacts that give +X/+X for each swamp. Nobody sees umezawa as a great threat, nofuckinfbody would expect inffect on this, and who ever messes with him DIES TO REMOVAL. Idk, sorry for the monologue and the English, big shoutout from Brasil.
