In this video we’ll look at the region before the equivalence point in an EDTA titration, where a metal ion is titrated with EDTA. Specifically, we’ll work through an example to show how to calculate the metal ion concentration in this region, and determine if the reaction is complete. First, we’ll set up a mmol reaction table. Then we’ll evaluate the E row of this mmol table to determine where the reaction is along the titration curve. Based on the specific region of the titration curve, which will be before the equivalence point for this video, we can then calculate the molarity of the metal ion in solution and the percent remaining.
