baseline m18 brushed bottom of the line cheapest you can get will beat the m12 fuel any day of the week. For blue collar workers it’s a no brainer they are not that much different in size. And they aren’t that much heavier if you’re that weak you can’t carry around an m18 all day you don’t need to be playing with tools…
@edtheoldtechguy
@edtheoldtechguy Ай бұрын
@Jacksonk628 I love the suggestion. Thank you! It shows you have potentially tried both. For me, M12 is perfect for mechanic work its all about how they fit in tight areas in engine compartmentas including the battery. M12 has also created tools specific for mechanic work. Now for ultimatums like "if you can't carry a tool all day you shouldn't play with them" I ask you to please consider there are veterans missing limbs, older ones who can't carry a tool all day but in the few hours of energy they got they like to build cars, decks, do plumbing. While unable to carry tools all day, they are still doing amazing things.

Another factor, maybe even what caused it all together. In the video the socket appears to be stuck on that lug meaning it's probably one of those silly capped lugnuts Ford and manufacturers make. Speaking from experience that alone can take any power from even a top end gun, because they act like a damper between the tool and the actual lug

@JudsonRadio
@JudsonRadio 2 ай бұрын
@@snakehead5444 The anti-seize may have been part of your issue; there's a good chance your lugs were actually over torqued. It's been known in engineering circles for a long time, but not so well understood in the auto industry, that anti-seize changes the friction characteristics of the fastener and can cause you to go way over torque. Torque Test Channel had a great demonstration of this in a recent video testing torque wrenches and found that the actual torque applied to the fastener could be nearly _double_ what the torque wrench reading is when anti-seize is used. That said, I have both the 3/8 stubby (which I LOVE) and the 1/2 mid torque and definitely prefer the mid torque for lugs. Power tools in general are much more comfortable and consistent when used well below their limits in my experience.

@@edtheoldtechguy I had a customer come in. Other shop had done his tires, he had a hard time driving lots of noise, shaking. Only electric impact i see use good use of is the m12 stubby! and i have had success loosening m10-m12 loctited and rusty caliper bolts and normal torqued wheel lugs with no problem and it can do fine work such as interiors. For heavier applications IR titanium

It was not planted, every bolt on this Ford Fusion was like this. Some yahoo at pep boys loves his air tools more than he likes customers cars. This m12 impact does 90% of the work I need and required no excuses from some of the commentors. We just ran into an over tight lug nut and made a funny joke of it. Never thought it would make everyone crazy 😆 🤣 😂

@edtheoldtechguy
@edtheoldtechguy 5 күн бұрын
@MrChung-ob2ms I really need to know where you saw a Toyota. While we were joking, the truth is the lug nuts were on way tighter than spec, and once you add rust into the mix, it became too much for this impressive impact. While this tool is one of my favorites, there are very rare times, it can't handle a lug nut.

@adamjohnson1543 hahaha! for a demo? I think your OCD is getting the better of you. Let's be honest most shops don't use torque wrenches, let alone install and remove wheels in a star pattern. I was just showing that it could take off the lugs, but thanks man, I'll take your comment under advisement.
